I found drinking room temp. fluids stopped the burning sensation. I was
eventually able to drink the cold stuff again, but until everything healed,
I stuck with room temp. stuff.

I went through the same problem and all I can tell you is that slowly it
will get easier but it took me a while. It felt like knives piercing my
tummy when I drank water no matter what the temperature.

I could not and can not drink plain water (room temp or cold) without
feeling like someone punched me in the stomach. I'm 20 months post op and
still have this problem. Initially, I spoke to my surgeon who said many
patients had the same problem and he could not explain why. He told me to
try adding lemon to a glass of water or drink flavored water. I drink
flavored water and tolerate it just fine. Nestle water has the best flavors
and you can get 4 six packs of different flavors from orange, lemon,
strawberry, raspberry. I buy it from Sam's (Costco) for about $8.62. Hope
that helps.
