My surgeon has me on a 65mg iron pill, but then again, I'm anemic. In the
paperwork my doctor gave me, it says 28mg. If you don't know the correct
amount to take, call your doctor. I'm sure they'll let ya know. Good luck

It really depends on what your surgeon prescribes but I am taking 325 mg
(very anemic). Make sure if it is not contained in a multi-vit that you
make sure there is something in your stomach or it will cause some pretty
intense cramping, nausea and vomiting.
Good luck......

I found the following informationa and thought it might be helpful:
"Iron may not be necessary for every post-op. but it is likely to be
needed by most. Carbonyl iron seems to be the best at building healthy
ferritin levels(long-term iron stores). Do not go over 200mg unless your
docotr recommends it and then tracks your progress. Avoid Ferrous Sulfate.
It is known as a GI tract irritant. Do not take iron without talking to
your doctor first or at least, withour reviewing your recent labs. It is
possible to overdose on iron."
Hope that helps!

You don't need to take extra Iron unless you are anemic. You should be
taking two chewable multi vitamins daily post op. But check with your doc.
Good luck.

Have your surgeon or primary care MD check your levels. You may not need any
iron.
