Question:
Had surgery, had a revision, still need help...

I was wondering if anyone knows of surgeons that speciliaze in "hard" cases? Location at this point is a second thought to finding someone to help me. I have had surgery, 2 "repairs" that were done by going down my throat and then a revision and I STILL have problems and trying to get help with it is diffcult and im ready to give up and totally regret having this damn surgery. I was wondering if anyone knows of a surgeon that takes "hard"cases, and where they are located. Any help would be appreciated.    — indigocrow (posted on June 18, 2008)

Try Dr. Todd Eibes in Des Moines, IA. He does cases that others won't touch and is very succesful.

Dr. Magnusen at Johns Hopkins Bayview Bariatric Surgery program is a revision and repair specialist. He is head of their program and has done over 700 gastric bypass surgeries. He is doing mine and I am considered high risk because of extensive abdominal surgeries do to injuries and repairs. In my research and in consultation with him, I would recommend him the most. Maggie

Dr. Neil Hutcher, Commonwealth Surgeons, Richmond, Va. He has been doing Gastric By-Pass surgery for over 30 years. Was featured by Leslie Stahl on 60 Minutes. He is past Pres. Of National Bariatric Society. He uses St. Mary's Hospital in Richmond Va., one of the first Certified Bariatric Center of Excellence hospitals in the country. In other words, he, and they, know what they are doing. Check them out.

Dr. Robert Marema, Managing Director of U S Bariatrics with three offices in Florida, but Dr. Marema only operates out of St. Augustine now. He has over 6500 Bariatic surgeries and in 1996 had a revision himeself to RNY. His toll free number is 866-459-3294. The hospital has a great bariatric wing with most of the rooms having larger picture windows overlooking the intercoastal and the ocean as well as the st. augustine light house. The suites are very large and privite and have 42" LCD TV with DVD players so you don't have to listen to food commercials. The rooms all have guest couches that convert to a bed so your family member can stay with you. He is very down to earth to talk to and he will not beat around the bush, so you may or may not like his direct answers. He will tell you the facts. He is approved by most every insurance, but they also offer financing through a few companies if you do not have coverage. Hope this help your search. You just need someone to get it right. I don't regret it at all, and I hope you find the right sergeon so you can reap the benifets, not just the headaches. Best of success to you. Bill

I do not quite understand your surgery not being a success. Is it your digestive track causing problems and not getting the information you need for post-surgery life style or something else? What do you exactly mean you being a "hard case?"
