My band is small, holds max of 4 cc. My surgeon didn't tighten it until my
6 week checkup. It took me 6 adjustments to hit the sweet spot. I have
3.3 cc in my lap band now and finally losing a couple pounds a week. You
might want to find out how many cc your band holds.

My band also holds 4 cc's, and it took me 8 fills over 7 months to finally
get restriction. Most doctors won't give the first fill until 6 weeks
after surgery. That allows time for the band to heal into place around the
stomach. Use this healing time to develop the new habits you're going to
need to be successful with your band. Never drink with your meals, and
wait at least an hour after eating before drinking. Start your meals with
several TINY bites of solid protein, and chew them well. Eating your
protein first will give you a greater sense of satisfaction, and your food
will hold longer above the band. By the time you get restriction, you can
get used to these rules; that will make restriction much easier to live
with, and you'll be likely to lose regularly and healthfully. Good luck!

The first two answers are correct. With most surgeons, the first fill is
at 6 weeks with each additional fill about 4 weeks after that. The number
of fills needed varies with the person. Most folks need 3-5 fills to hit
the sweet spot. With the band, your rapid weight loss begins as the band
is filled and reaches the correct spot for you.

I am 6wks post op with my band and have lost 30lb so far. I am however
scheduled to get my first fill on Dec 6th. I do think I need one because
I'm able to eat with no restrictions, however I'm still loosing. Good luck
