The first tihing you have to do is make sure you are getting in your
protein and vitamins. You can also get some Biotin to take. But the key is
PROTEIN, PROTEIN, PROTEIN. This will stop the hair lose. Also watch your
diet. Yes your hair will grow back but you have to stay on your protein.

Eat all your protein, take Biotin and wash your hair with Murad or Nioxon.
I am a hairdresser and have dealt with this before. Now I am 3 weeks post
op and following my own advice. Good Luck

I am exactly one year out. I take my vitamins and biotin religously. i
have tried every kind of special shampoo. nothing has helped my hair loss.
it is coming back in, but it is dry and cottony. Everyone I know that had
this surgery suffered the same thing. I have tried every home remedy,
every suggestion to no avail. I realize all are different, but frankly I
look terrible and I have just taken to wearing hair pcs, falls, and halo's.
if you want to know where i get them email me. [email protected].
believe me I have read every post on this subject, and there have been
many, and nothing I did changed one darn thing. I dont mean to be
negative, but when I asked I think it was sugar coated to some degree, or
perhaps no one has suffered as much loss as me. I KNOW I get my protien in
because my labs say as much. my hairdresser was appalled at the condition
of my hair, and no matter what she has done, it is still the same. I dont
know how long it lasts, but I am ready for it to be over.

I JUST ASKED MY DOCTOR WHAT TO DO AS I HAVE STARTED LOSING SOME HAIR. I AM
4 MONTHS POST OP ON SATURDAY. HE TOLD ME TO GET SOME FLAXSEED OIL TABLETS
AND TAKE FOR ONLY 30 DAYS AND THAT SHOULD HELP ALOT. GOOD LUCK.

I remember feeling a little frantic as my hair thinned out and I had to cut
it short because it felt like my long hair had been reduced to a very small
handful of scraggly strands. I just posted in the questions today about
the abundance of hair that I didn't realize I had grown. The stuff that
fell out of my head came back in curly and what did not fall out is the
same. It kinda looks like I got a very inventive perm. The other thing I
discovered today is that I now have an overabundance of fine hair growing
on my arms and legs that I did not have before. I am still awestruck and
unsure of why or what comes next!

Hi,
Try some Hair, Skin & Nail vitamins. You can find them at your local
drug store. I took them 2-3 times a day. Also, getting in your protein
will help. Best wishes to you.

I was told to drink the protein, but for the first few months, it made me
ill. At about 3 months the hair loss was terrible. I eventually was able
to handle the protein, but also took Biotin pills. Then I found a shampoo
and conditioner at GNC. It is called Jasons Hair Treatment. I don't feel
it makes your hair grow, but it makes it appear thicker. It has been a
godsend for me. I am at 8.5 months out and my hair is coming in
beautifully. Many people state their hair comes in different than before,
mine is about the same texture as it was before surgery.
Good luck to you.

Everyone gets bent out of shape about their hair loss. This is something
that should have been told to you early on. Everyone, to some degree, will
lose their hair after major surgery. There is not much you can do, but do
eat your allotted protein. It will eventually grow back and sometimes
better than before. Just be patient.

I wasn't told about hair lose before my surgery. I undersand you feeling
like a cancer patient because that is how I feel. I have considered a short
hair cut. My hair is really thin now. Where can I find biotin? I had my
surgery 4-9-07. I have lost 67lbs so far. The protein shakes makes me sick
to my stomach. I have found a place that sells smoothies and they add soy
protein in them. They have several flavors for people who have had weight
lose surgry. The fruity flavors are great.

Go to GNC.com and get you some Biotin. It's buy one get one free. Plus you
might want to get more protein. Look into the Isopure line. They are
great, look at the ones that have zero carbs.
