Question:
is this much for as meal normal at 4 months?
I'm 4 months out, down 75 lbs and wondering if it should be a lot less on account of my eating. One of my favorite meals is a wrap (very small, size of my hand flat, couple slices of turkey and a slice of cheese heated up. I can eat the whole thing slowly, without a problem. Is this too much for being 4 months out? I'm scared that ive stretched my pouch and can eat a lot now! — wecangetright (posted on June 21, 2007)

I don't think what you have eaten is to much. I use my fist to gauge the
meat portion for my meals. The tortilla if flour could be exchanged for a
veggie tortilla or whole wheat tortilla. Or you might try lettuce as your
wrap to reduce more calories. Eatling more is not necessarily bad as long
as you're burning more calories than you're eating. If it's hunger that is
driving you to eat more, then you should add more protein to your diet and
increase your fluids. Good luck on your journey!

is the cheese fat free, and use your fist as a guide not your hand. It also
depends on how many times a day you eat. Did you see a nutritionist prior
to surgery? If so call and ask them.

The amount of weight you should lose depends on how much you needed to lose
in total. You must factor in how active you are and whether or not you
exercise. Some people lose nicely and don't exercise and others cannot
lose without also exercising. I have kept my calories at below 1000 and
have lost steadily almost every week. A 75 lbs weight loss after 4 months
is fantastic! I am at 82 lbs in 7 1/2 months and think I have done great,
although I am almost at goal. I think the wrap is fine as long as you just
eat a tiny amount and get in your protein for that meal and it sounds as if
you are. Having some complex carbs is fine so make sure the wrap is whole
wheat. I don't think I could eat a wrap the size of my hand...the other
day I had a tuna wrap and only ate the tuna and a tiny bit of the wrap. If
you are losing steadily every week, I wouldn't get wrapped up in whether or
not you are losing quickly or slowly. Good luck!

Hi Katie. I am glad for your concern, and it looks like the other people
who have answered have done a great job of covering the question. I just
want to re state that it is important for exercise to be am important
factor in your day. When I walk or exercise, then I eat more, but I also
burn more, and that makes a big difference. Exercise has always been key
to weight loss, and if you are not exercising, then you will eventually
begin to gain again, surgery is just a tool, not a miracle. It will
absolutely turn on you if you don't exercise. Please be sure you are
getting all the basics in, exercise, water, protein. A 4" wrap won't
hurt you at all if you are doing the basics. Also, I would ask, do you eat
that much 3 times a day. At 4 months, I could eat a small subway sandwich,
but it was my main meal of the day, the rest of the day I just had some
snack proteins. At 3 1/2 years out, it is pretty much the same way. I eat
one larger meal, and then snack the other meals. I am still keeping my
weight off, and doing fine. Congrats on the 75 pounds, that is a huge
amount of weight in just 4 months, on average it would be 40 pounds or so.
Take care. Patricia P.

I still cannot eat that much, and I am over two years out and gaining!
Consider yourself fortunate!

Hi
If you have a dietician ask her, but as long as you can tolerate this much
food, and you do not have a problem, make sure you chew 25- 30 times...good
luck
