Question:
I would like to hear from post-op TT people.
I had my TT and double hernia repair on 11/8. I have been faithful to wear my binder day and night. It is starting to really bother me. Please tell me your experience and if you slept with your binder and how long you used it. Exactly what is the benefit? — MARSHA D. (posted on November 21, 2002)

I wore my binder faithfully until I COULDN'T STAND IT ANOTHER DAY!!!
Arghhhh - the rubbing and sliding up made me nuts! What I ultimately did
after I got the drains out was go to a nice department store that has good
quality undergarments and I bought an all-in-one. I wore it religiously -
slept in it too. Now, six months TT post op I have GREAT results and the
all-in-one has almost become a security blanket. I still wear them at
least 5 days a week. I think it just makes me look better and feel better
too. Best wishes to you in your journey!

I wore mine all the time for about three weeks. I just felt safer with it
on. At that point I began to sleep without it. My doctor said I could get a
regular support garment to sleep in. I had the TT and thigh lift at the
same time, so my garment went from under my breast to my knees. It was
irritating, but I am so pleased with the results.

I wore my binder for a couple of weeks. When I was in the hospital, they
put me in a large one. That one was too big. Before I left the hospital
the next day, they had a medium one brought down. After a week, that one
was too big and they didn't have a small. I still continued to wear it
though. It did help me getting up easier. The doctor had me wear the
stretchy girdles (bodywear) and he said those are the best things to wear.
It's 3 months post-op and I still wear them so I can avoid seromas.

I had my TT 7 yrs ago. I had no binder at all. Did have the muscles
reworked, too, so maybe that makes a diff?
