Question:
What would be my best option for a revision?
I had weight loss surgery in 2003 and lost 120 pounds. I've had a baby and gained back 20 pounds and I also have lupus and had to go back on prednisone and gained another 20 pounds. I really want a revision, but don't know what to get. What about the stomaphyx. And is it done in ALABAMA? — Anthiano H. (posted on July 5, 2010)

You have been so successful with your WLS! Congratulations! The type of
revision you get would depend entirely on what type of WLS you had the
first time. Also, some doctors will not do WLS on a patient with Lupus.
It can be dangerous. There is no easy answer here without more
information. I am not familiar with the "Stomaphyx". All of us
who have fought our weight have a life long fight ahead of us. Have you
considered with only 40 pounds to loose, doing it with diet and exersise?
Not easy I know, but may be your best option. Good luck with your decision
and be proud of your past accomplishments!

Congradulations on keeping 80 lbs. off. You should be very proud of
yourselve. Have you talked to a wls about your best options?

I have a few questions, which type of surgery did you have first, what was
your highest weight and what is it now? Can you tolerate a high protein
diet? Can you tolerate and be disciplined to take tons of vitamins and
minerals? Do you exercise? I had the "duodenal switch" which
many former roux en y, vertical sleeve gastrectomies, and lap bands do as
their revision but it is not for everyone, ergo my questions given your
unique health challenges with lupus.
