Question:
How long does weight loss last?
Weight loss, do you lose weight for up to 2 years? 1 year? when should i expect weight loss to stop post op RNY? — LauraMarie (posted on May 19, 2009)

It generally lasts a year for rapid weight loss or the "honeymoon
period" as it is often referred to...We are all different and lose at
different amounts and speed etc...My weight loss lasted 15 mos...It slowed
down drastically toward the end but I kept on losing. Rapid weight loss
will stop, but that doesn't mean you cannot continue to lose weight. It
will never be that fast or easy again....It's harder and more work like any
other time we've had to diet and exercise to lose weight...You will have to
work for losses once the honeymoon is over...It's not impossible. Good
luck!

1 to 2 years fo quick weight loss. You will need to put in an effort to
learn to eat a whole new way to keep it off. It i a challenge but well
worth it.

Every one is different and every body is different. I am almost 4 1/2
years post RNY. I lost 130 lbs my first year and then stabilized except my
body kept shrinking. Then, last summer, after continuing to
stay-the-course eating the right foods, drinking the right protein drinks,
exercising, sleeping, and hydrating, I dropped another 30 lbs and again
stabilized. Again, my body is continuing to adjust (slowly, but
effectively) becoming tighter and smaller. I agree with the other posters,
it is all in our mindset: we must become our own personal advocate, know
our bodies, know all their is to know about nutrition, exercise, what
works, what doesn't, get our med's regularly checked and be more
knowledgeable than our doctors, if we are to succeed.
