Question:
Ok, How many calories are you eating at 7 weeks p/o?????
I just had to ask everyone what they are dong? My nutritionist didn't really give me a guideline on my caloric intake so how many calories are you all eating when you are at 7 weeks post op RNY? I have been able to eat 650-850 and I am not sure if that is to much or not enough?? Some people are asking how I eat that mcuh so now I feel bad and I am thinking maybe I am eating to much. It is 6 small meals a day and I am within my protein and fat intake outlined by my nut. I was just wondering what everyone else is doing?? I say this b/c I haven't lost any weight in 5 weeks since I went off of liquids. Extremely discouraged and frustrated and maybe I am doing something wrong but 650-850 calories seems not a lot compared to what I may have been eating b4 surgery. Any comments on this ??????? Oh and yes, I am getting my water in and my excercise in every day. Thanks! — jann91 (posted on August 31, 2008)

I am learning everyday that every single doctor/nut is different, my
doctor/nut says dont worry that much about calories, get at least 60-75
grams of protein and 65 oz water.
I have lost 35 pounds since July 6th and dropping a few pounds a week. I
walk about 1 1/2 miles a day, and Tuesday I start swimming. I have been
told that there are going to be weeks you wont lose, just hang in there, it
will happen.

I am 7 months out as of today; my surgeon told me 800 calories per day,
however some other people here have said their surgeon said 1,000 per day,
so sounds like you are doing excellent with regards to your caloric intake,
water, exercise. Be sure to get your vitamins in, and avoid
carbohydrates/sugars/starches. You probably haven't lost weight lately due
to hitting a plateau. Hang in there, they do eventually pass......

Hi ! Just a quick note to mention that I had surgery on june 19th and I
have lost 40lbs. I was dehydrated for 3 weeks and no weight loss during
that time of course. ANyways, ...I still only eat 1 ounce (1 medicine cup)
of food at each meal. only 3 meals and no snacking in between. Some days I
only get two meals in, but I do still do my protein shakes. I eat as little
or as much as my stomach allows at each meal. usually after 5 bites I am
full. I watch my calories tho they say not to worry at this point and time
about them, and on a good day I may consume as many as 600 calories or as
few as 350. My milk and protein shakes are the source of most of my
calories. what does your calorie amount come from and how much are you
eating at meals? I still measure mine out. I want to consume as little as
possible right now as the hunger will back and the stomach will grow. Our
'honeymoon " period is limited and that period is the period where we
lose the most weight. Once we get passed it, life is dieting like before.
Hopefully we can use this time to change our eating habits and figure out
why we over ate in the first place. If you want to email me...please do so.
[email protected] make sure you mention the OH webite in the subject
line. Good luck and hugs, Kim

I made sure when I chose a Center of Exellence program when choosing my
surgeon. I knew that I would get the very best care. At the center I
chose, you have access to a nutritionist at all times, exercise specialist
and also psychological counselling free on charge permanently. Centennial
Medial Center in Nasvhille TN is excellent. I truly made a wise choice
even if I to drive 2 1/2 hours to see the doctor but the doctor,
nutritionist, physchologist, exercise specialist are only a phone call or
e-mail away. I did a lot of home work prior to picking my surgeon. I
wanted the program and I knew they would only have the best doctors.

I am a 12 years veteran and since day one I never worried about calories
count. However I think you are doing the right things. Your calorie
intake is low as they say the normal range is between 1200 and 1500 total
per day. You are not seeing the weight loss number on the scale because
you are exercising and tuning your muscle. They say that muscle weight
more then fat. I am sure you are loosing inches and the numbers will
follow. My suggestion to you is to focus on eating the right food groups,
exercising and most definitely take your vitamins and "sip water.
Good luck in your journey
