Is Nexium in capsule form? Call your doctor or pharmacist and ask if you
can pour the contents of the capsule out and mix it with some yogurt. I
know that you can do this with prevacid. Nexium is too large to swallow 5
days post-op. Good Luck.

I had the powder form at the beginning and just mixed it with a teaspoon of
water. It had no taste, just kinda thick. Swallow and take a sip of water
to finish it off. The pill form I have is very small but I wasn't given
that until I was at least 3 months out.

I broke open the capsule and added it in my applesauce or yogurt. It is
gross tasting but then you can get it down. This is what my dr told me to
do. After about 2 weeks I could take it normally.

I take prevacid, rather than nexium....but I believe it's about the same
type thing....I open my prevacid and inside are a ton of little balls like
sprinkles for cookies and such. I just sprinkle them in my mouth and sip
water til they all go down...Takes a few sips because they just go all over
your mouth! They don't taste like anything really unless you crunch on
them for a while...(Yeah, curious little bugger I am!) They taste pretty
gross if you chomp them. I only take them occassionally now as i just
don't need them. I remember I used them for a few months post op to help
heal the damage from my GERD...My throat was pretty burned from severe acid
reflux and hiatal hernia. Every once in a while I get a dull ache in the
pit of my stomach and as soon as I take a prevacid it's much better...I'm
hoping your nexium will work the same way. I know prevacid is very
expensive, but it was worth it to me to get rid of that acid burn daily. I
also know they make a suspension liquid prevacid for people who can't
swallow pills too, if you think you might ask your doc for a
prescription...Hope that helps...because, I really don't know what's inside
a nexium cap...

I do I remember the Nexium! It was the worst thing to deal with. I used a
spoonful of sf pudding and dumped in the capsule and put another spoonful
ontop of the little balls. Then I flipped the spoon upside down on the
back of my tongue and washed it down with water. This way I didnt get too
many of the balls floating around getting stuck in my teeth. They are
awful tasting when you crunch them. The second month Kevin gave my the
solutabs I think it was Prevacid since insurance covered it but not the
Nexium. Hope this helps. Good Luck, Toni

Wow, my experience was so different than everyone else's. My doctor let me
go back to taking my nexium right after I was discharged from the hospital.
I never had any problem taking it. It's much smaller than the calcium
citrate pills. Please call your surgeon's office to see what they suggest.
Good luck to you!

I found it easier to take all my meds either w/ tomatoe or veggie juice or
milk. Something a little thicker than water always (and still does)
helped me to get the pills down, even the calcium citrate. I'm almost 1
year post op Lap.
Best of luck to you.

Nexium is available in a dissolvable/chewable tablet. This was provided to
me in the hospital post op. Ask your Dr or Pharmacist.

Nexium is a capsule and you should not take anything in capsule form. I
take a spoonful of sugarfree pudding, open the capsule and pour the insides
on to the pudding. Then eat the spoonful of pudding, swallow don't chew!
If you had Lap RNY you should no longer be having problems with
Acid-reflux. I would check with your doctor. Hope this helps. Lisa
