Question:
i m 4 and half months out

, is it ok to have fruits such as grapes/bananas sometimes at night before going to sleep ? sometimes i do have cravings for that or also if you can suggest other snacks which are low fat or fat free, that would be great    — mrjack (posted on August 11, 2007)

fruit is always a good choice...keep cut up watermelon, cantaloupes, honeydew, strawberries, blueberries around. i also like soy chips, but you must portion them out. a sf pudding cup is also a good snack because of the milk protein.

I have been doing bananas since my surgery. Sometimes if you don't chew well enough they will get stuck. Grapes are okay but start slow because they can be a little hard on the stomach. At this point it's just trial and error. Try one at a time so if it doesn't agree you know which one it is. Also, make sure you are chewing well.

I agree about bananas being a little heavy on the stomach but I do know something that has been awesome for me! Take the smaller purple grapes and wash them while thye are wet place them in a bowl and spinkle your favorite flavor of sugar free jello over them...toss the bowl to coat all the grapes and place them in the freezer....COOL & REFRESHING! I actually get up diring the night and eat 2 or 3 more :) This is healthy and is a diabetic treat! ENJOY "they do not freeze hard,,,I am 2 years out and lost 132lbs.

Beware of the sugar content in grapes, banananas, and watermelon. Those fruits are among the highest in sugar content, especially watermelon. I have known people to actually gain weight due to fruits and/or fruitjuice. Seems like everything that tastes good is bad for you huh? LOL Oh well, it's worth it in the end. Take care!

On vacation touring a winery I dumped on some very ripe grapes while my wife tasted some wines. I almost never drink alcohol being way too goofy sober, drunk would just be worse..
