YES, YES, YES!!! I am 5yrs. post op and still have a problem. Everytime I eat any of those proteins I must drink hot tea first and make sure that it is very moist. Small bites and chew, chew, chew!!

I am nine months out now and meats are very hard to eat. I stick to beans and dairy for most of my proteins. I eat meat a couple times a week. Sometimes I am fine others I feel terrible for an hour or so. I have gooten use to the new way of eating so it is all good now.

I had a terrible time with red meats. I'd actually get sick no matter how small the piece or how well I chewed. I didn't have too much trouble with chicken but whenever I baked it I'd put a pat of butter on it to make it moist or I'd have a dish of chicken boullin to dip the piece of chicken in before I ate it. The secret, I think, is to keep it moist.

It took a long time before I enjoyed meats again fully...I ate because I cannot handle whey and so I had to get in my protein...Red meat hit my pouch like a rock...Chicken sometimes the smell made me gag...Pork was much like beef...I hated fish (which I love now)...Eggs gave me a belly ache EVERYTIME! I think some of us are sensitive to the fats since we are prone to dump fat as well as sugar and meats are high in saturated fats. Fish was the leanest protein I could eat and once I got passed the taste, and I didn;t get a belly ache, I began looking for fish that wasn't so fishy that I liked and I found that white flaky fish was actually very good and I have since moved up to fishier fish like salmon...Eat meat very slowly and chew very well...all I can say is that it gets better...I found that boiling meats (as in stews and soups/crockpots) make the meat moister and easier on my pouch...But it took a good year or more before I could eat red meats and eggs at all! Pork was hit or miss as well as chicken! LOL It gets better...

I am six months out and just now able to eat most meats, pork and chicken seemed to be the worse for me. No matter how much I chewed or how moist I had it I still got sick. I must say it has gotten better so just hang in there. Good Luck and Best Wishes
