Question:
Anyone have a quick recipe for snack on the go that don't taste dry...?
I ordered the book "eating well after wls" . I'm exercising out of the home now and after eating breakfast and drinking protein shakes, I need to carry a snack that don't need an ice pack. I am proud too say that I walked 5 miles this week. Over the next several weeks that will be my goal until moving on to other exercises (two major surgeries) so I'm taking one step at a time to reach weight loss goal. — Toby2 (posted on September 13, 2008)

I've been eating this brand called TRUE NORTH snacks. You can find them at
Target and in organic food sections of stores. They have Pistachio Crisps,
Almond crisps, and some other varieties. They have 5 g protein per 15
crisps. They fill me up and sometimes I'll use them as a meal substitute
while at work because they're easy on my stomach. They're very light and
crispy and work well for me and keep me sustained until my next meal. I
buy those snack sized ziplock bags and put together several at a time to be
able to just grab and go. I hope this helps.....and that I don't get a ton
of people ripping on me because I eat this....it's not a constant..it's
just for something to tie you over until you can eat something more
substantial. Best wishes.... Hugs......Cheryl

The snacks I take with me are beef jerkey, south beach living protien bars,
almonds, sometimes I might take a tuna salad pack. I prefer them cold but
its nice to have in case you get held up.

Have you tried low carb, high protein bars? Special K, and Natures Own has
some good ones. I used to take a half frozen low carb slim-fast with me
when I didn't have time to eat. Or, Cheese, and a few crackers. Some
people don't like crackers because of the carbs, but I only ate a few at a
time.

As for future exercises ... I would suggest Jassercise. I just started it
and I am loving it. That is the one hour of my day that just flies by and
it is so much fun! Check out www.jazzercise.com to see if you have a local
group

Have you tried soy nuts, they are loaded with protein, 10 per 1/4 cup (2
ounces) low in fat and 130 calories? I recently discovered them and they
are great for crunch factor.

I'm with Cheryl on the True North snacks. When I started eating tuna and
egg salad, I was not enjoying it at all by itself and had to force myself
to get it down. I started my mission to find some sort of cracker and love
these. I can pull out 5 of them, put my tuna/egg/deli turkey on them and
have a great filling meal. Glad to hear that Target has them. I was afraid
Costco would quit carrying them.

almonds--good source of protein. But I thought snacking was a no no

Just another note on the True North products....they're also at Super
Wal-Mart..and are perhaps less expensive there.... a bag for $2.97. That's
here in MN anyway. As for snacking being a no-no as mentioned by another
post-er...I think we all know that a good majority of us still snack... not
a grazing kind of snacking really....but the kind of snacking that perhaps
acts as a meal substitute.... that's why it's so important to keep in mind
our protein and our carbs. That's why I liked the True North
items...because they do contain a good amount of protein and not bad on
carbs.
Just wanted to add my 2 cents worth....again! SMILE
Hugs

Wal-Mart has started selling boxes of Beef Jerky with individual pack of
Beef Jerky. They have 9 grams of protein per pack 0.5 fat. no sugar, no
carbs. They are good for on the go. They are also bite size pieces.
