Question:
Not getting a full feeling,.....

Why when I eat do I not get a full feeling. What is happening is about 15 minutes to a half hour after I have stopped, I get a very nauseous feeling that stops after about 20 minutes. What's that all about? I am 3+ weeks post op and still on pureed food.    — mmartel1 (posted on July 10, 2009)

I have the same problem. I dont feel full like I did before. so sometimes I dont stop eating soone enough and get nauseated. I have to measure my food first and not eat any more after that, because in about 15 minutes i will feel ill. It has been 2 months since my RNY. I dont get a feeling of hunger either, just a weak feeling , like I better eat something or I might get sick. I am interested in hearing some feedback on this question, sorry I am no help though!

hi i had my RNY on 2/19/09 and from what I've experienced you shouldn't feel "full" If you eat until you feel "full" it will probably be too much and you'll end up getting sick or feeling nauceous. The question is are you feeling hungary? Probably not. You need to follow your doctors orders. Portion your food and since your at about 3 weeks you shouldn't be consuming more than about 3-4oz in a sitting. If you portion your food it will also help you to count your calories, carbs, sugars and protein. My advise is that you should be eating to stay healthy. Do not eat until you feel full, eat until you are satisfied. There is a difference. I think that when you're overweight you are used to eating until you are stuffed, but this is not necessary. Good luck to you.

I know what you are saying...but if i were you ..I'd measure out the portions of food before you eat them. I still do at 1 + year out. I eat 4 ounces at a meal and eat 4 times a day. My nut. wants me to stay with smaller meals more often to maintain my weight. When i was first out I used the medicine cups that were 1 ounce in size. I never felt hungry back then and did feel full if I ate too fast or chewed too little. I hope things get better for you! Hang in there. Hugs, Kim
