Question:
Anyone bruising 4 or more months RNY?
I know this is an old question and I've been researching it but this question seems to have been asked a very long time ago...Does anyone know if it is a lack of vitamin C, vitamin K, potassium, iron B-12 ? Has anyone found the right answer to this or could it be any one of these things? — kathysews (posted on May 24, 2009)

Funny you should ask.... I've been noticing some interesting bruising on my
legs... little clusters of bruises about the size of the head of a pencil
eraser, and they look more like clusters of bruises the size of a pin-head
grouped in shapes like the size of the eraser head. I have not done
anything to cause this bruising. And it lasts for a LONG time. One that I
had since late April is just now going away, and there are 3 or 4 more to
take its place. I am taking supplemental vitamin K, but I'm not really
sure how much I should be taking. I'm 3 months out today, and I'll have my
3 month post-op appointment next week, when we'll go over the labs to see
how I'm doing, so I'll know more then. Sorry I couldn't help you right
now.

I have had terrible bruising. I had RNY 8/28 and by January I was worried
about it becuase it can be a sign of heart issues and that runs in my
family. I would talk to your dr about it. My dr has been wonderful about
everything. He knew I was worried so he ran some labs and told me that
every thing looked normal. He told me not to worry about it unless I start
having bleeding issues such as "a paper cut that won't stop
bleeding" etc. BUT... that was just me. See the doc if they say
everything is normal just relax and enjoy your wonderful new life.

I will be 5 months June 7,2009. I am much older than most of you,(almost
67) and have had heart problems and take plavix for keeping me from
clotting again. I have lost 41 pounds, and will be going not to the
surgeon, but to my cardiologist. I am getting very bad large ( 3 and 4
inch circumfrance ) bruses. I think since I have lost the weight I
probably need to get my med doses reduced. Jerri
