Question:
Nervous
I'm nervous about surgery and was wondering if anyone felt sick right afterwards. I had an EGD on May 5th and I have been sick ever since. I have had several surgeries in the past and have never been sick before. Maybe, because I'm older now, but anyway I'm nervous just the same. I'm waiting on approval (CIGNA Open Access). I did clear liquids for 24 hours and my appetite hasn't come back, but that's okay. Has anyone had this same experience? — notjus4fun (posted on May 8, 2008)

I was horribly nauseous after my surgery. My doctor was giving me
compazine IV in the hospital and zofran sublinguals for home. They worked.
The nausea went away about 2 weeks postop. THANK GOD. You might want to
check this out with your doctor.

I had Lap Band 4-16-08 and I never got sick. I still haven't and I never
took any meds for pain. I am older to 59. I have felt better these past
few weeks than I have in a long time. Maybe it is the surgery date? I did
get nervous the day before but I didn't get sick. I had a EGD and I was
awake for that and I was just glad to get out of the hospital...didn't like
the doctor that did the procedure, nurses were fine but the doctor wasn't.

I had EGD on the 5th. I was out during the procedure, and it took a while
for me to wake up. I also was nauseated that evening and the day after
(Monday after procedure and Tuesday) On Wednesday I had horrible
heartburn. I was told by my doc that I must be very sensitive to
anesthesia and pain medicine they gave me. I was told that the surgery
shall be better,, but to make sure I tell about my experience to the
anesthesiologist during the hospital pre-assessment.
