Question:
Stage 3 food, are we supposed to eat 2 ounces still like we did in Stages 1 & 2?
I ate 2 ounces of food in stages 1 & 2. Now I am in stage 3 (pureed chicken, cottage cheese, applesauce, etc.). Is it still 2 ounces every 3 hours? I wasn't physically hungry much during stages 1 & 2, but now in stage 3, I am still hungry after eating 2 ounces. — Gina S. (posted on February 29, 2008)

Each doctor has their own protocol as to when certain foods can be eaten
and how much. It's best to check with your doctor. My surgeon wanted
everyone to try to eat the 2 oz portion up to 6 months, if at all possible.
Your doctor may or may not say it's OK.

Always ask your Dr. but I was told by my Dr. That the main thing is eat but
when you feel like your full walk away! Throw the food out. Im 12 months
out I cant eat but like 4 to 6 pieces of chicken about the size of a yatzee
dice. Ask the Dr. maybe your not eating enough! do you get full ever?

I was told protein first... the protein will fill you up and keep you full.
so far that holds true for me I eat 3oz of protein for lunch and dinner
but I am 16 mos out. Would be wise to check with your Dr./nutrionist to set
the standard for you.

You will find out what your body needs, talk to your Dr., but eat slowly,
and drink slowly, and not together, and you will work it out.
If you are hungry after 2 oz, have another 2 oz in 1/2 hour. Protein
protein protein.
I like soups.

hard to know what your doc's protocol is...my doc said to keep it at a shot
glass size...1 1/2 oz..to 2 oz...for the entire losing part of the weight
loss. Keep the pouch small was the idea. I did that, and am happy I
did...8 years out now...and still have a relatively small pouch, although I
do eat a bit more than that now. Regards~

Yes, stick with 1-2 ounces of protein for the main part of your meal.
Remember that your pouch is about the size of a golf ball. Make sure you
are stopping drinking 1/2 hour prior to eating and don't drink 1/2-1 hour
after. My NUT allows 1-2 ounces of protein followed by 1 teaspoon of a
side if I'm still wanting something. The side is a veggie or starch/carb.
If in doubt, call your nutritionist. Explain how you are feeling, and they
may offer up some suggestions.
