First, I suggest that you look at your hunger...It seems to me that your
pouch is still so small...and that your'hunger' is head hunger. That is a
big issue for alot of us. Diet pills are just a panacea..if you are
getting all your proteins in & water & exercise & vitamins, you
should not be 'hungry'. When I think that I am hungry, I look to see if I
have had all my proteins & water...it is usually because I am low on
these things. When I don't get some kind of exercise in, I feel like
something is missing & my head says "EAT"...so I go for a
walk. I recognize that I am a compulsive overater, and that it will often
come to the surface, but I do not have to act on it.

DO NOT TAKE DIET PILLS! They are dangerous even if you haven't had wls.
You should be losing at a nice clip if you are having your protein every
day. Talk to the nutritionist and tell her you are having issues with
food, remember, it's just head hunger!

Drink more fluids! That is probably why you are hungry between meals. You
should be having something every 2 hours. In the morning I make a smoothie
or have Dr. Atkins and it takes me at least an hour to drink that and
afterwards its water until 30 minutes before my lunch. I go to lunch at
noon; therefore, I have an appt setup on my calender to stop fluids at
11:30. When you have your meal are you eating meats and veggies? You may
want to look at how you're eating as well as what you're eating. I'm
almost 3 months out. You should not embark upon diet pills -- you are not
giving the surgery enough time to work.

NO DIET PILLS... these are not good for you, even without the WLS (as
already posted) They are all stimulants - either rx or herbal or
caffeine.... very hard on your heart.....
As posted already... are you getting sufficient protein in? I find,
like the other poster, when I am hungry, it is usually because I haven't
gotten the proper amount of protein or water in that day. Also the head
hunger is a problem as well. I never realized how much of that played into
the whole weight issue until after the WLS. I knew that I was an emotional
eater and went to some intensive counseling to prepare myself - develop
healthier habits, etc vs eating. If you have gotten all of your protein
and water in daily and are very hungry.... ask yourself these questions....
"Am I upset about something.. happy, sad, angry, etc?" "Am
I bored?" "Is there something else that I could do right now
besides eat?". Just know that your pouch is naturally going to
stretch a little, and you want it to stretch a little over time. It allows
you to get more water in at a time and to stick with the 3meals and 2
snacks daily which is your ultimate goal.. be gentle with yourself. About
your lack of weight loss within the 7 weeks - ask yourself these questions:
"Am I getting all of my protein in - minimum of 60gms daily?",
"Am I getting all of the required fluids in daily (min of 2qts of
decaff. SF fluids - preferrably water)?", "Am I exercising
daily?" Be honest and correct the things that you are not doing. If
you are truly honest and still not losing weight, I would be consulting the
surgeon and the dietician to see what they would suggest. Do you attend
monthly support meetings at the facility where you had your surgery... most
of them have them.... these are good places to ask questions too... good
luck to you.....

I'm thinking if you aren't losing any more weight try to vary your
exercise. Or are you doing any? You didn't mention it so now I wonder if
that is the whole issue? "Hunger" can be boredom too so when you
feel hungry grab a water and go exercise...walk, stepper, treadmill,
abdoer, anything at all...jump rope! easy and fun! or dribble a basketball
around outside or in the basement...or kick a soccer ball...hit some tennis
balls on the side of a building, anything you can think of that will work
different muscle groups

I suggest you stop snakcing on veggies, and eat more protein. Crbs, even
complex ones, make you hungrier, and protein makes you feel full.

Yvette, I suggest you get the book "Am I Hungry?" by Michelle
May, MD. Diet pills are not the answer. Neither are diets and restrictions.
There are no simple answers. Regarding stretching the pouch - that will
happen naturally over time, no matter what you eat or not, and it is
normal. (The only way you can really stretch the pouch abnormally is if you
have some sort of obstruction at the outlet!) Most people after surgery
concentrate on protein. I'm here to tell you that you need a balanced diet
- one that includes vegetables, fats, meats, and - gasp - carbohydrates,
including bread, cereals and fruits. Divide what you need into five small
meals. Planning is the key, here. Write down what you will eat and when -
then do it. If you fail to plan, then plan to fail! Forget snacking, no
matter how "healthy" - it can easily become grazing. And, add to
it that most of us morbidly obese people don't know what REAL hunger feels
like! (I include myself in that even though I'm almost 5 years post lap
RNY, with no weight regain.) If you are putting food in your stomach, I
would bet dollars to donuts what you are feeling is not real hunger, but
head hunger. And no pill will fix that.
