While many Doctors say that you do not have to puree cottage chees, many
others say DO puree even the cottage cheese. Your taste buds might
appreciate using a mini-processor and processing regular foods...like
ground beef/turkey. I mixed the non-meat sausage with a little gr. beef and
processed, adding a dash of spaghetti sauce. Chicken salad in the food
processor is great with fat free miracle whip & I also used fat free
sour cream in just about everything. For me, chili still goes down the
best. Meats need to be moist. It helped to keep some chicken broth to
moisten with. I really liked the pureed stage & experimented a lot.
Just stay away from foods that may expand in your pouch--no pasta or rice.
Good luck :-) Barbara

I am still waiting approval, but my sister is 2 years post-op and has me in
training ::grin:: She lists the following for Pureed Foods:
Cottage cheese, High protein mashed potatoes, High protein breakfast shake,
High protein cooked cereal, Soft-cooked scrambled egg, Pureed vegetables,
Tomato/V8 juice, Pureed fruit.
She also said that you can try blending almost anything that is low fat and
sugar. Just make sure there are no visible pieces and that you avoid rice
and pasta. She even used 1st and 2nd stage baby foods - mostly the meats -
to blend with other foods. The goal is to always start with the proteins
to help in digestion and energy.
