Dr Rumbaut is fantastic, so is the hopsital he uses. The hospital is the
only one in Mexico that CIA will allow a President to go to if they are ill
or injured while visiting Mexico. As a hospital surveyor I can say I never
saw one better, cleaner or more modern.
Dr Rumbaut not only had lap band surgery himself, Drs from around the world
come to him to learn how to do band surgery. All cost for you are included
in the up front cost. My husband went with me so we paid for his meals. The
total inculding airfare etc was about $12,000.
He is listed on this site under surgeons, Mexico. There is also a forum
for people who had their surgery completed in Mexico you could join.

Look up Dr. Alvarez in Piedra Negras. I had a sleeve procedure there one
year ago. Everything was wonderful... I am also an RN. You can read my
review.

Hi, one of my closest friend had her lapband surgery with Dr. Aceves in
Mexicali, I checked him out and he is an outstanding doctor, the staff is
amazing, you can look him up on this site there are so many comments from
his patients. My friend had great success and her mother also had it done
with him and she is also extremelly happy.
Hope this helps.

I vote for Dr. Alvarez. He's amazing. You also might want to consider his
vertical banded sleeve gastrectomy instead of the lap band. My sister and I
had ours done on 5/26/09 and have lost 71 and 57 pounds respectively. I've
gone from a size 26 to a 18. You can even preview the procedure on video.
He has performed over 1000 of these by now because in May he was at about
950. You can take a "buddy" with you who can stay in the hospital
room and motel rooms with you at no cost except for the meals they buy.
Best move I've ever made. I've been a medical transcriptionist for 25 years
and waited until a superior method of weight loss surgery arrived, and I
believe it is the vertical banded sleeve gastrectomy. Best of luck.

I want to warn you of one thing if you choose to use a doctor from another
country (or anywhere far from your home). It is difficult to find a local
WLS surgeon to provide follow-up care if you are not one of their surgery
patients. Follow-up care is just as important as the surgery for
successful weight loss, health, and weight maintenance. This is esp. true
for Lap-Band patients. I am 5 years post-op (Lap-Band) and still see my
physician about every other month. This surgery is a lifestyle change to
regain and maintain your health, not a quick, one-time fix to your weight
problem. Good luck with whatever you decide to do. God Bless.

If you choose to stay in the US, here in Los Angeles (Northridge Hospital)
the cash price is $12,500 for Lapband. I have aetna ppo as well and am
paying cash for my procedure. The hernia repair will be covered by your
insurance.
