I'm pretty sure BCBS covers. You can call the number on the back of the
card for a quicker answer. I had RNY thru them. You have to do what is
best for you but the results from RNY are a higher percentage and there is
no object in your body to nip and tuck. What ever you decide good luck and
congratulations on making the decision to get healthy! I just wish I had
done it sooner!

First of all you should find you a surgeon and get your free consultation
as it sounds as though you are really wanting this. I had a great surgeon
and his office. They know all the requirements for insurance and if you
find a good Dr they will help you figure out the insurance part of this and
help you finance it if necessary. So I can only tell you that I have aetna
insurance and I got my realize band and they covered it. All insurance is
different and have different hoops for us to jump, I was denied and had to
do the 6 month Dr supervised diet and my insurance has a 25,000 lifetime
max that they will pay on bariatric surgery. When all said and done I
had to pay 3300 in copay's and deductibles not bad I think. Good luck !

Call your insurance company, they will let you know and tell you what their
requirements are - don't be suprised if they don't tell you all the
requirements (no worries the surgeons office will know these!). Once you
know that they do call a surgeon and make the appt.
The insurance coverage can depend on your employer (if that is who the
coverage is thru - they can choose to have some procedures left out)

I don't know if this will help or not. My insurance company claims they
don't cover wls(lap or rny). My surgeons office filled an appeal claiming
it's a medical neccesity. I was then approved.

I just want to thank all the advice I had gotten back on my question. Its
great when people like all of you get my confidence back up. I'm not a good
speller so I hope you all understand. I read all the emails about the
insurance and I will start to call doctors. I first should probably call my
doctor or go see him. He is the one who gives me the referal to other
doctors. My insurance wants that before I go anywhere. once again,l thanks
to everyone!!! I really hope sometime in the near future I will be a happy
person again about myself. once again, thanks
