Question:
Smores

Does anyone have any ideas on smores? Camping just would not seem like camping without them. Thanks - Hether    — Hethermarie (posted on July 8, 2009)

I have only heard of sugar free chocolate..never heard of sf marshamllows...and not sure about grahams...but I figure giving up a small thing like smores is worth being fit and healthy. Best of luck to you! hugs, kim

Actually, when I was in weight watchers, we had a "smores" type treat that was made with sugar-free, fat-free cool-whip, along with lower calorie dark chocolate squares and lower fat graham crackers. They were pretty good! You might give them a try!

I am six months post op RNY and do not dump on sugars..I could probably eat smores (haven't tried)...I don't think the graham cracker or chocolate would bother me, but the marshmallow may. If you are going to do it and are really craving it to the point where you almost " have" to eat it..just take ONE BITE and see how you do...good luck.

Remember that the surgery presented you with a tool to loose weight. I don't thing S'mores are part of the plan.

When there is something that I want so badly that I feel like I just HAVE to have it, I allow myself two bites. This is actually an idea I heard from someone else who'd lost a lot of weight. It seems the first bite indulges that initial craving for the flavor...and the second bite makes you feel like you are still indulging yourself, somewhat. And please keep this in mind....which is going to feel better to you....being healthier and wearing those pretty clothes you've been longing to get into...or eating a freaking smore? You have to remind yourself of these things EVERY single time you get ready to put a bite into your mouth. IS IT GONNA BE WORTH IT??? Good luck to you...and God bless you!

Alright...I have to admit, I recently tied a smore's when my daughter and her friend were making them in the outdoor fire pit...and after one bite, it was so sickening sweet that I could not even eat it! YUCKY! I did enjoy a roasted marshmellow and ONE was quite enough and even left me a bit queezy...Those things are fun for a taste every once in a blue moon...but if I were you, I'd serious set a limit of a bite or two as suggested by another post! Don't start to enjoy that sort of thing often! Bring some almonds/pecans/walnuts and raost them in a pan with foil with some cinnamon and maybe a drop of watered down honey for a teensie bit of sweet...Find new fun things to roast on a fire! Even an old fashioned jiffy pop corn pan would be better than smores! LOL Well in theory anyway!
