Question:
Biotin...
I have been suffering hair loss since I was 16 due to PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome)...well I certainly don't want to lose anymore hair...so doc said today to talk to my nurtritionist to see how much biotin I should add to strengthen the hair shaft, etc... So, I was wondering what your nutritionist has suggested for you? I bought some today, 500mcg gelcaps...not sure how much to take... Thanks in advance for all input! I had heavy duty hair loss that started about 4 months after my RNY
surgery. The surgeon's assistant suggested biotin. I took the maximum
dosage of biotin for a month and it didn't even slow the hair loss down.
Half of my hair fell out and I spent $340 on two wigs for work. A farmer
online suggested fish oil....... go figure. I figured what the heck! I
took fish oil with the biotin and the hair loss stopped. It not only
stopped -- it is coming back in. I don't know if it was going to do that
anyway because the weight loss slowed about that point too. I still loose
about one pound a month but I'm at my goal weight (276 down to 156). Try
it! I'm still taking both.

I wonder if you meant to type in 5000 mcg? I take 2 capsules in the a.m.
and 2 in the p.m. Each capsule is 5 mgs. so I am getting 20 mgs. It did
slow my hair loss down, but thank goodness I had super thick hair to begin
with. It may not help everyone's hair loss, but it does help with the
re-growth. It makes that come in faster. Good luck and God bless.

Hi michelle, I also had hair loss. I'm now 10 months out. I started
taking biotin from the start. Finally my hair has started to grow back. I
have slways had thin hair, but I do believe that is is coming back thicker.
I am going to try the fish oil, it can't hurt. God Bless, Vanessa

My surgeon recommends 3000 mcg a day - I take the hair and nails supplement
at GNC - 2 tabs a day does it. I am only 11 weeks out - but haven't
noticed any hair loss - I started the biotin 1 month before surgery. Hope
that helps - Joanna

I take Biotin 1000 mcg per day. I also use Nioxin hair products that were
recommended by the nurses at the hospital. I am four months out and so
far, so good. I eat plenty of fish so I don't take extra Omega 3. I have
been fearful of hair loss and I an doing everything I can to help prevent
it. I'm not sure when you are out of the woods as far as hair loss goes.
I wish I knew. Good luck.

I take anywhere from 2000mcg's to 3000mcg's a day.. My hair stylists was
showing me this past weekend the "new hair" that was coming in..
(Doing happy dance) My hair has always been very thin and now that I take
the biotin it really has made a differance.. I also use Ausey shampoo and
conditioner there is one that is protein based and hair is made out of
protein.. :)
Hope this helps..
God bless you.
