Question:
My PCP tells me my B-12 level should not be at more than 500.
I've been blood-tested at up to 2000 for b-12 level and my PCP had a fit and said I was in the toxic range. I told her I was told by my (retired) surgeon that we can't have too high a level. Right now I'm at 700. Is that enough????? Thanks. — kaydeeann (posted on May 22, 2007)

If you're born in the 2000's, is that too high? Newer studies show 800 as
the new LOW.
Everything I've read show no reported cases of toxicity. I know mine has
been at 1800/2000 BEFORE I was supplementing it. And that's as an early
WLS! So, if that was "natural", I'd love to see it again. '

The Blood Lab Comparision Chart which I received at a Support Group this
past March 2007 shows the Normals levels of B-12 being between 200 - 1100.

My surgeron said that you can't be too high I take b-12 shot shots because
cause I like them.. I toke them prior to surgery for about a year or so.
so i do not take the sublinngual that the rest of the patients of my
surgeron due and my levels are in the 1200 range. He just said cut back a
little, So from time to time I cut back on the shots ( instead of every two
weeks maybe once a month or so) I feel so much better since i take them.

Another area no one has stated is that B12 is water soluable so you don't
hold it in the fat tissue and become toxic- the same with Vit C- sure an
elevated level of C can increase your risk of a yeast infection but that is
about it- I take a 1000mcgt SL QAM- the only level that has cased any
concern from my providers has been my Vit D which went down to 17 (norm is
30-65)_ so I now am on 8 weeks of supplements for that then a repeat blood
test. Donna 285/135
