Question:
Best Protein Source Ever - Really!!
I found a unbelievable protein liquid, you get 15gms protein for only 2 tablespoons. This is the highest protein possible with out drinking a whole shake, pure protein and no sugar. Here is the website, it is amazing, I started to workout but couldn't keep any muscle it is really amazing check it out. Good Luck! The website is 4webmed.com but here is the link to the product. http://www.4webmed.com/main.cfm?Page=product&id=10386&back=%2Fmain%2Ecfm%3FPage%3DSearchForProduct%26noFilters%3D1%26condition%3D%2D1%26manufacturer%3D%2D1%26keyword%3Dprotein%26type%3D2%26category%3D1564 Here is also there website, a Doctor told me about this. www.pro-stat.info — MikeL (posted on April 17, 2006)

The link worked for me but I too wonder how it tastes?
I can't "stomach" these protein drinks. Perhaps FINALLY they got
a good one out there? Also I'm now gaining weight again (5 years post op)
and I'm wondering if protein could help? Does anyone know? Mike, I hope you
don't mind my asking these questions with your nice posting. ;)

Mike, thank you for the great info, I read a bit of the research and
although I didn't understand it all it looks like a good way to get
protein. Does it fill you up like a protein shake? Best of luck, jen

I looked it up, it is called Proteinex by LLorens Pharmaciuticals. At
www.4webmed.com, then the first web. Thanks and lol.

It doesnt fill you up like most protein shakes. it is not a shake. Whats
great about it, is that you can add an extra 40-60 grams of protein to your
diet. If you are new Post Op expecially, you will really not lose any hair
and help your wounds heal fast. Keep in mind there are protein shakes out
there that have 40 grams of protein, but you have to drink a whole shake
this is 15 grams in 2 Tablespoons. I also ordered The liquid calcium. They
are so great. Go to www.pro-stat.info and look at what others WLS patients
say about it and doctors too. You buy all these WLS products at
www.4webmed.com, I asked a doctor and told him I was working out and still
losing muscle he told me about this. It is wonderful. The taste can be
strong but to get an extra 60 grams protein in your diest calorie and sugar
free, you all have to know how great that is. Good Luck Again!

Yes that is true. But you can take 6 tablespoons a day getting 60 grams as
opposed to drinking 3 16oz shakes of whey. This produst for the most part
is used by hospitals worldwide. I know personally After one protein shake,
I am filled for hours which is no good if you have to eat your meals. I
cannot personally have 2-3 shakes a day. I can easily take 3-6 tablespoons
of this. So in sense it works great. They have added 100% of all amino
acids on top of it and it is 0 calories, o Carbs and no sugar. No product
can offer the same. It works for me great but you have to do what works for
you.

also p.s. I never said use it as your primary source. Use it as an addition
to your meals the Dr says to have, this way you can add an extra 40-60
grams protein a day without having to drink shakes. If I drink I shake I
cannot eat too. So this is my best choice since it is very easy to take.
Only 2 Tablespoons ='s 15 grams protein. You do the math.

What flavor do you use? I'm going to try it.....it would be sooo nice to
be able to get your protein in and not have to stress over it the entire
day...

Make sure you use the pro stat 64 formula , this is for WLS patients since
it has no sugar. I would 100% read about it first at www.pro-stat.info
first. This product for years has only been used by Dr's and Hospitals. You
cannot buy it in any store. I Like the Btter Scotch flavor. But I hear
cherry is good. This is for people who need extra protein in their diest to
keep muscle, advoid hair loss and much much more.

It's poor quality protein, and it's *NOT* calorie free! Protein has
calories. These are collagens, my shakes are predigested whey proteins,
instantly absorbable, and at least twice as bioavailable as collagen.
My shakes have no sugar, and I make them with 4 oz water, 1.5 scoops of
powder for 30 grams of protein. Add ice, if desired, cover and drink with
straw. Tasty.

I agree. I would only use this, if you are adding this to your normal
intake of food. For me its great I eat my 3 meals plus take this 3 times
day. I am 4 months post op, no hair loss and my muscle is growing from
working out now, when before I was losing muscle. I agree whey is better
but they only come in powder form or 14-160z shakes which I cant drink much
of them cause they are very filling this is not,. Thanks for the advise.

You sound like a salesman. And nothing with 15g of protein is 0 calories,
as protein is 4 calories per gram. I looked at something similar at GNC
thinking it sounded great. Well you know what? If it sounds too good to
be true, it probably is. The person at GNC said this product is NOT good
for bariatric patients, especially NEW post ops. By the way? This isn't
even a question, and should have been posted to the message board.

I disagree with the last poster. Personally, Mike, thanks for posting this!
I don't like shakes, but would like to try this.

I agree that it is a great way to get extra protein. I have been personally
using the pro-stat for almost a year and I still like it.

The only problem is that our bodies can only process 30 gm of protein at a
time, so taking in 60 gms of protein is a waste. Sort of like taking 5 or 6
aspirin at a time when your body will only utilize 2 of them, the others
just cause more liver damage. Too much protein is not a good thing either.

The previous poster is perpetuating a myth regarding processing protein.
You can certainly process more than 20 or 30 grams of protein at a time if
you are able to eat that much which in itself is probably not likely. I
unfortunately did not save the website info on this quote:
People have been perpetuating the myth that you can only assimilate about
30 grams of protein at a time, making protein meals any greater than a 6
oz. chicken breast a waste. This is anything but true. For example, the
digestibility of meat (i.e. beef, poultry, pork and fish) is about 97%
efficient. If you eat 25 grams of beef, you will absorb into the blood
stream 97% of the protein in that piece of meat.
If, on the other hand, you eat a 10 oz steak containing about 60 grams of
protein, you will again digest and absorb 97% of the protein. If you could
only assimilate 30 grams of protein at a time, why would researchers be
using in excess of 40 grams of protein to stimulate muscle growth?

Nicole, Most of the information posted on the message boards is missed by a
large majority of the people on this website. Just because this was not
posed as a question doesn't give somebody the right to tell Mike where it
does or does not belong. Geez....lighten up people.

Hi, I think some people missed the point of my original post. I had my
surgery on january 27, 2006 Since that I have lost about 75 Ilbs. My
original weight was 301. I started working out again after about 2 months.
I notice no matter what I did I was still losing Muscle mass. I came to the
conclusion that Even though I eat the 3 meals that my DR has me on, I was
not doing anything good for my Muscles becuase they say you need about 1.5
grams of protein per Ilb you weigh. I tried a shake called lean body which
is about 40 grams of protein per shake in 14oz water or skim milk. The
problem with that was it would fill me up I I wouldnt be able to eat. The 3
meals the Dr has us on may be good enough to keep up our protein intake,
But may not be good enough to Build Muscle, Prevent hair Loss etc.... I
take this liquid in between meals which is only 15 grams of extra protein 3
times a day. Since it is only 2 Tablespoons it does not fill me at all and
at the end of the day, in Addition to my meals I have added about 60 grams
of protein. Now if the body absorbs that all or not, I know I am getting
alot of extra protein in my Diet. Will this work for everyone, I am not
sure. I am one person who it does work for. I am also sure I am not the
only one. I just posted it becuase how well it is working for me, what
people do with the info is up to them. I am just trying to contribute what
I feel might be helpful to some people. Someone said I sound like a
salesperson. In life I am in sales, but I do not sell, promote and of these
products. It sounds like a sales pitch becuase I myself thought it was
great!!!!! Again good luck!!!!!!! Also if anyone does do try this and it
works for them, feel free to email me and let me know. I will be glad if I
have helped some of you out..

I have found PROFECT with 25 grams of protein in 2.7 oz of liquid. It taste
like liquid jello with 4 different flavors -- I like the Fresh Citrus
Berry.
I have asked the nutritionist in my dr office, and she said this would work
for a protein source. (Someone had posted earlier in the month that this
was an ineffective protein). But since my nutritionist has ok'd it, I will
be using it. ---- www.protica.com 1-800-protica. I would suggest
ordering the 4 vial assorted to find which one taste best for you, then
ordering by case -- they also give you a 15% coupon to use. (Prices before
coupon are 1 case of 24 vials $56.92 about 2.37 per vial, 4 cases of 96
vials $190.08 about 1.98 per vial). Flavors = Blue raspberry swirl, Cool
Melon Splash, Fresh Citrus Berry, Grapefruit Mango.
Thanks, Theresa postop 1 week.
