Question:
weight gain after gastric bypass 8yrs ago, would like revision??
I had gastric bypass 8yrs ago, and maintained well. I recently within the last 3 years have had 2 children and have gained back some weight. I called the office where I had the bypass and they do not do revision surgery, I called a few other surgeons and they refuse to take patients for revision that have not had there original surgery done with them. HELP?!!! I would love to get the lap band or maybe the "mini" bypass, but not sure where to find a surgeon that will take me as a patient. Anyone know a surgeon from the Boston, Ma area?? Hi Jami! You have taken a great step to getting yourself back on track.
Before you place your focus on getting the revision you might be able to
get yourself back on track with some refocusing and some support :-) I am
in the same boat as you....minus the kids so I don't have an excuse. I had
my surgery 7 years ago and have gained some of the weight back. I know that
I am not answering your question and forgive me if you have already done
some of that. I did also go back to my surgeon for some help getting back
on track...they should be more than happy to help you. I know that at one
point I felt like a revision was something to think about and I have just
recently started to do some things to get back to the basics. I have done
some research on the gaining too. I didn't want to be one of those people
and pound by pound I am becoming one. Taking the small steps back to basics
has been hard for me and a lot slower than I would like, but I think I am
getting the hang of it. I would be happy to help you with that if you need
some support :-) good luck !!!!!

Jami,
I am 6 years out with no significant regain. Here's what I
do......everyday I focus on the protein, then veggies, then starches etc.
I no longer do protein shakes unless I am sick with a virus or something
and not eating properly. Give yourself a try with adding protein and
exercise an extra day. Change up your vitamins. Go for more B vitamins for
energy. Don't obsess with the scale. It will move. I had lost 140 lbs.
at first and maintained. Then last year, seemingly without trying I lost
the last 60. I have regained 3 lbs. (big deal!). It is still possible to
lose after all this time. I know this will probably be hard, with two
little ones running around, but put your food needs first and stop munching
on what you're making them to eat. Congrats on your children, that's
something that never happened for me - in menopause now, but I have raised
4 step children who gave me every gray hair that I have! Good luck. PM me
if you want to chat more.
