Question:
Are mixed nuts a good choice for a snack after gastric bypass?
On one hand, I can see how they can be very nutritious. But on the other hand, I know that they are loaded with fat. Always before...when I dieted...I avoided them like the plague. Any advice? — PaulaJ (posted on August 13, 2009)

Hi Paula,
The nuts are a very good choice for protein and you do need the fats that
are in the nuts. Since you had your surgery in 08, then you are okay as
far as your pouch healing. Just limit your nut intake and chew them with
love. LOL

I have them once in a while like if I get stuck out and i am just famished.
But I chew them very well and I don't make them part of my everyday diet.
They are also a "gas" causer, so I avoid those types of things if
I can!:)

i am only almost 2 months out, but I found some turkey jerky thats high in
protien and low in fat and tastes great. Jack Links made the one I got but
I'm sure there are others out there. It is great to keep in your purse for
those out and about moments!
