Question:
When you had hair regrowth did you find yourself HAIRY ALL OVER?

I am going to turn 64 years old shortly and one of the benefits of aging is that body hair loss takes place and one shaves less frequently and no longer worries about bikini lines. Well Holy Hannah! I started to shave this morning and I have NEW hair all over my legs, arms and patooty. The new hair on my head is now curly...the stuff that didn't fall out is the same so now I have to figure out how to style partially curly hair. How about you guys-anyone else experience this? pat    — catcat (posted on August 29, 2007)

Hi Pat I can't say that I've had all over body hair but I did get curly hair grow in where the orher stuff fell out on my head. I know it's so annoying. Jeannie

I never lost my hair, but YES!! The hair they shaved for surgery came back with a vengence. And now the hair on my head has a curl that I never had before. My more follicuarly challenged friends want to know how they can get their hair to grow like this.

I asked my GYN why the hair on my legs grows faster now and he said that I am more physical now and hair grows faster if you have better circulation. So my ciculation must have improved quite a bit, because I have to shave my legs just about everyday. Tanya

Weird how this hairloss business works huh? My hair was a thick, curly mess before surgery, guess what? It grew back in partially STRAIGHT. What a crock, I am in the same boat, half curly, half straight hair. I just put gel in it all over and try to scrunch it up (when wet), then flip my head over and blow dry to fluff it up. Usually the non-curly parts will look curly or wavy enough to blend in. YIKES! And I do think the hair on my other parts grow faster too!

Bless you forgiving me a morning laugh as I read my mail. Seriously, I mean that in a nice way! Anyways I lost a moderate ammount of hair, never came close to bald spots. My hair on my head is gaining its curl back and came back a few shades lighter. Think black to start with and the new stuff is light brown. Everywhere else is the same.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!! I NEED A GOOD BELLY LAUGH. MY HAIR HASN'T FELL OUT YET, BUT NOW I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO IT. I HAVE THIN, LIMP HAIR AND WOULD LOVE SOME CURL, BUT NOT ON MY LEGS.

Especially since you've mentioned body hair, my concern is that this has something to do with hormones, particularly estrogen. I'd suggest speaking with your PCP or GYN and having your hormones checked. I doubt this is anything to worry about, but better safe tha n sorry. I am a very very hairy guy but definitely thinning on my head. I'd love to grow more hair!! Best wishes to you.

Thank you whoever you are who suggested my new hairy body may be related to hormones. I am on HRT (Hormone replacement therapy) that was prescribed for my 240 lb body and now that I am down 70+ pounds perhaps it needs to be adjusted. It is the only area I haven't checked. Huh! Hormones. Guess it's time for another ride on the Hormone Express. I think I am about to get off the train and my 10 year old shows every sign of getting on...thanks for the heads up, again, it just escaped me. pat
