Question:
I AM THREE WEEKS OUT AND MY POUCH DOSEN'T FEEL FULL
IS THIS BECAUSE I HAVEN'T MOVED TO SOLID FOODS YET? IT FEELS LIKE IF I WANTED TO EAT AS MUCH AS I WANTED TO I COULD BUT I DON'T. I HAVE LOST ABOUT 20LBS. SO FAR SO I KNOW IT'S WORKING BUT JUST WANTED TO KNOW IF ANYONE ELSE EXPERIENCED THIS THXS! — kfarmer (posted on August 3, 2007)

If you are only three weeks out you haven't even had a fill yet so it is
expected that you won't feel very full. Once you start solids and then get
fills it will feel tighter and tighter. My husband didn't feel much
restriction until after his second fill.

Kimberlie thanks for your question. I don't believe that you are
experiencing anything new. Many of us have that very situation. I am 3
years out Kimberlie, and when I go into a restaurant and get ready to
order, I still think I can eat a full plate of food. I still think that I
can eat so much more than I really can. It is a head issue, and it is very
strong. I look for the physical fullness. When it begins (not is full,
but begins), then I stop. We don't have to be full, that is a lie that we
have believed for years. We need to be satisfied. Look for satisfaction.
That has nothing to do will fullness. Obesity is a head issue with a body
consequence. If you want the body consequence of weight lost forever, you
will have to battle the brain. I still see myself as fat and I still
struggle with how much I can eat. I still sport a size 4/6 and weigh 128,
but my mind hasn't caught up yet. I always battle a lie with the truth.
My brain says I am obese and can eat a ton. My photo, the truth, and the
scale, the truth, says I am 128 and a size 4/6. I choose the truth and try
to eat accordingly. I heard someone mention the 90/10 plan for success. I
think that is a good guide. 90% eating right and regular, 10% of
splurging. At 3 weeks out, it is not time to splurge, but keep that in
your weight loss bank for when the time comes. Now is a time for 100%, now
is the time for the honeymoon period of water, protein and exercise. If
you are not doing all 3, you will absolutely be disappointed with your
weight loss. Surgery was never intended to ignore exercise or water. You
must do all 3. Best to you Kimberlie, and keep fighting those head issues,
you are worth it. Take care. Patricia P.

I remember when I was new at this....my head told me I could eat a polish
sausage...and that's all I craved. My brain knew better, so I didn't try
it. Now...7+ years out...I went to a barbecue, had a small thin hamburger
patty, no bun...a tsp of potato salad, a tsp of jello salad and a small
scoop of green salad. I was miserably stuffed the rest of the day. Not my
normal way of eating...but it was a barbecue. I'm still full....so the
restriction does work as long as you work to keep your pouch small over the
first year of losing. I have days that I feel like I could eat like
normal...other days...just a couple of bites stuffs me. I laugh at my
desire for the polish sausage...and when i was able to actually eat part of
one..it wasn't that great. That solved that. Not sure this even addresses
your question other than you will feel restriction when you start putting
food in there. Regards~
