Question:
How much did the excess skin from your TT or LBL weigh?
how much weight did you lose before surgery from your WLS and after PS? Thanks — Lynne C. (posted on May 21, 2004)

LBL - 8 pounds total. 5 pounds from the stomach, and 3 pounds from the
hips and back.

I had a TT on over a year ago and the surgeon removed 6.5 pounds from my
abdomen.

16lbs. total with TT and arms. Looked like I lost about 40 though. It's
never as much as you "think" it's going to be, surgeon explained
to me that skin really doesn't weigh that much...it's just skin.

My doctor toook 9 lbs. total. That was only 2 weeks ago so I don't know
how much that will amount to when all the swelling goes down. I haven't
weighed since surgery and the doctor hasn't weighed me either. I've been
twice so far. I lost 109 lbs. prior to plastic surgery.

My PS removed a total of 18 lbs. of skin with my TT and Belt Lipectomy. I
had lost about 170 lbs. before having the surgery done. Like others have
said, it appeared to be much more, as I went down 2 pant sizes.

Had a belt lipectomy 4 months ago, and they removed 8 pounds - and an
8" high band nearly all the way around.

My PS took off 20 pounds and I lost about 14 inches around my hips. My
panni was HUGE! I had lost around 145 pounds when I had the LBL.

Wow, those responses kinda blow me away. I lost 130 pounds with WLS, am
having a LBL in July (two years post-op). I'm 5'7 1/2", 138 lbs. PS
said only a pound or two will come off with my plastics. We'll see. I
don't particularly expect to lose anything significant from the LBL, I just
want the M.O. leftover skin gone. I'm tired of stuffing it into spandex
everyday!

19 lbs of skin came off with the lower body lift. Plus whatever the weight
of the fat he lipo'd out of the saddlebags and outer legs. My next surgery
will likely only take 2-3 lbs of skin, this is for the upper panni. He
does plan to do significant leg lipo with this next surgery in preparation
for my leg surgery in Nov. The leg surgery will likely take off 10-15 lbs
at least.

I had a belt lipectomy (like a LBL but without the thigh work). Surgeon
removed 24 pounds of tissue and fluid. I came home weight 23 pounds more
than when I went in though as I gained a ton in fluid weight. At 3 weeks
out the swelling started to subside. I now weigh 2 pounds less than preop
BL, but still have some swelling.

Lynne, in NYC, unless you're PS is covered by Ins, they don't weigh the
excess skin unless you wanna pay for it, after the $14K I already shelled
out, i wasn't interested. i had a LBL on May 11th, i was 193.6 the day of
surgery, less than a wk out, I am down to 178/177 with the binder on, so, i
must have had about 12lbs take off including the lipo! Heather Open RNY
