Question:
Pain Meds
Does anyone know if it is true that as Gastric Bypass patients we absorb our pain med and other meds faster than other people? In other words I mean they don't stay in our bodies as long as other people that don't have the surgery. I had my surgery almost 10 yrs, ago RNY Thank you — luvmytrucker51 (posted on January 22, 2011)

Personally for me and my husband, the meds filter through much quicker. Esp
the pain meds. Whereas I use to be able to take a pain med and that would
be it for the evening it now wears off after about 3 or 4 hours. Everything
hits our intestines quicker now than before gastric bypass.

Yes it is true. My doctor changed my pain meds so that I am taking a lower
dose more frequently so I end up taking the same amount of medicine and get
the same pain relief. Good luck!
