Depends on your type of surgery and your post doesn't state but will answer from an RNY patient point....I took Centrum adult chewables, available at Walmart when I was early out. You need twice the recommended daily amounts so 2 per day, usually morning/evening. I also purchase my calcium citrate there; Citrical w/D. Early out I used a pill crusher until I read a tip here that they dissolve easily in fluids like crystal lite. Tip: I buy the Great Value brand equivalent of crystal lite. It's just like Koolaide and quite tasty. For more info on vitamins, check out Andrea U's blog. She is a fellow OH member who researches and freely shares her findings on all things vitamins. Good luck on your surgery! http://wlsvitagarten.com/

I took the viactive chewables - they come in chocolate flavor. I got them at walmart. Now that I am far enough out to swallow pills I take centrum silver in the smaller pill form

My Surgeon's office said I can use Centrum Chewables. They not only smell like oranges, they taste like oranges! These are good tasting. Try them.

I get my vitamins from Bariactric Advantage. If you do automated ordering you pay no shipping charges. My surgeon told me I need vitamins made for bariactric patients. People will tell you they use this brand and that brand they buy at Walmart, some use pre-natal vitamins and some use gummies made for children. Those are not appropriate for you. A lady that posts on OH has a blog that is very informative and she has a vitamin comparison chart. I can't remember the link, but she posts on the RNY board in the What are you eating/doing today? post. Her name is Pat and she is a wealth of information. I will try to remember to get her link and provide to you.

Rebecca - As you can see many of us take different vitamins. My surgeon had the RNY and takes the centrum vitamins and I do too, and I haven't had any problems with my bloodwork. Please don't let anyone tell you that buying your vitamins at Walmart makes the vitamins bad. I myself am like you. I don't dish out a lot of money for bariatric advantage, bariatric fusion, etc. I find sometimes when you see the word bariatric in the title, you have the priveledge of paying more for it. Ask your doc and NUT if you can take the regular vitamins. Most say to start out after surgery taking 2 flintstone vitamins a day. I didn't like them when I was a kid and didn't like them any better as an adult. The doc told me the viactiv were fine as they had the same vitamin content and they weren't expensive. Worked fine for me and I got a taste of chocolate with it.

I am 6 years post op and over the years I have tried all the different vitamins. I was not absorbing the vitamins though and I was serve anemic. I tried all types of things and finally a friend referred me to Vemmma. Interesting enough I went to a conference last weekend in Vegas to hear about clinic studies and outcomes of the vitamin and there as a bariatric doctor there and spoke at length about these. He said that we just dont absorb the vitamins and that Vemma is the best vitamin for bariatric patients on the planet. I have been taking it 5 months and feel better than I have felt in the last several years. You can go online and look at it www.Jones.Vemma.com.. hope this helps, Jeanette
