They do a lot during surgery. I was told they look at your intestines and everything. And, the cutting of the muscles doesn't help one bit. The more walking you can do, the better off you will be. It helps to alleviate the pain and it gets things moving, which may also be a source of your pain. You may have some fluid retention, causing the tight feeling. Yes, walking will help this as well. It all goes hand in hand. If you are swollen in this area, things are not going to work as efficiently as possible. Walk when you can, but don't over do it. And get as much rest as possible. Sleep is best. Best of luck on your journey!

I took EX STRENGH GAS X,actually double doses for a couple days which helped alot, I had pain in my left shoulder and neck also. However once I started taking gas X, it relieved alot of pain,Dr puts a lot of air in, to be able to visualize, also walking helps tremendously.

Hi Jerry. I, too, had a lot of discomfort after coming home from the hospital. I felt like something was wrong with me because I wasn't progressing as quickly as I'd read that others had. But I found that each one of us is different and our pain thresholds are different. I didn't stop feeling discomfort and tightness until after 3 weeks (I had laproscopic rny on 12/23/09). I also had a hard time having a bowel movement. When I finally could go, it hurt! Eventually, my nut had me take benefiber to help get things moving. Drinking TONS of water helps get things moving too. All of your insides were disrupted with your surgery and made to go to sleep. They don't like that so much, so take a little work to get up and going again. You are doing great! Keep walking and sip, sip, sip and everything will be fine again! Take care, Kristin

Hi, I had my Lapband done on Wednesday as well and I agree that the walking helps a great deal. It was hard at first but I am in no pain now, doing able to do whatever I need to do without giving thought to it. I did take the Gas X Extra the first 48 hours as that pain in my neck & left shoulder was worse than my stomach, lol. Good luck

I, too, was in pain in lower stomach for the first 10 days and then sall of sa sudden it went away just like that! It was amazing it went away so fast. Yours will go away also before you know it. Maybe you it mays take no longer than 14 days, it will be gone. I was freaking out also cause so much pain. Took pain meds for 5 days but suffered the other 5 days before pain went away. Doctor would not prescribe past 5 days, don't know why. Asked DR but was turned down. Again, my pain went away at 10 days. Good luck and hang in there, let us know your progress! Take care of yourself, Tina in sunny FL

Hi Jerry, Hang in there.....I had RNY gastric on 12/28 & I thought I was tough. The firt week was horrible then the 2nd week was better. My doctor gave me liquid loratab which helped alot, then I also had an abdominal belt that just wraps around your entire hip area and that made walking alot easier. Walking definately helps move the gas out. I didn't take any gas x because I wanted that air out.....your call as everyone heals differently. This website is awesome with suggestions so hang in there and it will get better. I'm 4 wks out & down 30 lbs already. Good luck on you journey to skinnyness :-) If you don't have an abdominal belt, you can get them at any medical supply store. A friend had her gallbladder out & as soon as she got the belt, it made it easier to get around.
