Question:
Has anyone felt extremly nervous just before getting WLS date?
I will be seeing my surgeon on Wednesday to get my surgery date, and I woke up today feeling very nervous. I am naturally a person you suffers from sever anxiety but this is different! I have been on the internet(OH) alot going over all information I already know about the Lap Band and looking @ all the Q&A`s people have on WLS, but this is different. Has anyone felt extremly nervous @ this point in their journey to a new you? Patti :) — Patford (posted on June 1, 2009)

Patti
This is as normal as it gets if you were not nervous then that would not be
normal. You are about to change a major part of your life !!

Don't sweat it. You will be fine. This is completely normal. I"m more
nervous than you are. I have surgery coming up next week. Yikes!! I'm cool
though, I've done my research. I'm expecting pain and discomfort, but this
is my new life and I'm not cheating myself out of it. Put your best foot
forward and dont' look back. Good Luck Patti!

Patti, I understand how you are feeling. I have been waiting for 3 weeks to
hear back from my insurance company to tell me whether I have been approved
or not. So needless to say I am on pins and needles waiting. Hopefully it
won't be much longer for either of us to be on the other side with our
weight loss journey. Good luck!

Feeling nervous about any surgery before it happens is normal. A surgery
as life changing as WLS is expected to make the anxiety that much worse. I
work in an OR as a nurse and know what to expect but am still nervous about
my upcoming surgery.

Patti, if you were not nervous, I would be very worried about you. You are
about to embark on a life changing journey. It is not an easy journey, it
will required 100% from you and those who support you, but a it's a
wonderful journey none the less. Good luck to you and congratulations on
taking the first steps.

You are normal. I was nervous up till the time they came and gave me
anesthesia before the surgery. I still am so very happy I had it done and
I am 9 months out. Good luck Patti!

Absolutely! And I had been working on this goal for almost 18 months, and
when I finally got my date I was really nervous and anxious. Just follow
the doctor's instructions to the letter, and you will do just fine.
