Question:
How to correctly measure

I have been keeping measurements, but Only do one side of my body. One arm One thigh, one calf. How do i do this to end up with a total of inches lost? Would that be measuring, both arms and legs etc. I also measured my neck and knee. Any suggestions on how to log this? Thanks Lesleigh07in Ga    — lesleigh07 (posted on May 3, 2008)

Don't worry about doing both legs and arms...(It's only an estimate anyway and you lose symmetrically unless you have some oddity) Measure the fatty parts of your body to get your inches...Start at neck...chest, forearms, biceps, waist hips, thighs, calves and ankles...That should give you a good idea of how many inches you're losing...or gaining in muscle (That's later)

I don't loose symetrically as the previous poster said. My arms and legs can be up to 3/4 inch different. I would recomment to measure neck, chest--band and cup size on the bra, waist, hips fullest part of the thighs and calves. Add them all up.Subtract the next time you measure.

I measure every month and measure my neck, upper arms, chest, waist, hips, thighs calves and ankle. I have never been symetrical so I measure both my right and left side. I track each months measurements in a spreadsheet and on sparkpeople.com. I have found this to be a great way to see how my body is changing. Amy

I have a spreadsheet that I use. I would be happy to forward a copy to you if you are interested. You can email me at [email protected]. It tracks your weight, wrist, forearm, chest, hips, and waist measurements and then converts it to track and graph your bmi and a bunch of other stuff. Let me know if you would like to check it out. My gy does my measurements for me and we do BOTH sides. I have at leat 1/2 -1 inch difference between the two depending on where I measure. I will tell you to make sure that you are measuring in the same spot each and everytime. If yo can have someone else do it for you. Best to you!
