I had Dr. J and he is the best. You will have a consultation with a group
of about 10. Then they will take you individually in and speak with you.
They will give you a packet of things you will need to get done pysc eval,
nutritionist, and blood work are the main you will also go for an ultra
sound of the gallbladder. Once you have all that done then it is the
waiting game for your insurance to approve you. Once you a re approved you
will be scheduled and then you will have another group type consultation
for pre op. you will go for the pretests and actually meet with the doctor
that day it took me from 9 till almost 4 that day. they it is just a few
more days till your surgery. Also about 2 weeks before the surgery you will
go on a liquid diet for 2 meals and a high protein for the 3rd meal. Hope
this helps you! I really like all of the staff at the office in Ocala.

I had a contact that had surgery in November 2007 with him only to find out
6 weeks later that she was 2 months pregnet. It might be the hospitals
fault, but I though you should know. If you are glose to St. Augustine,
see Dr. Marema at Flagler Hospital He take all insurances and he will spend
as much time with you one on one. The only time you are with a group is
for the pre training for feed management and excersize before surgery and
for the group support meetings. Regardless of your choice, best of success
to you.

Reply to williams response, it had to be the hospitals fault because he
orders a pregnancy test right before you go into surgery for every patient
of child baring age. I would not of changed my decision to have dr j he is
rated the best in Florida by many insurance companies and also by the
bariatric surgeons association. I have had no complications taken no pain
meds since the first day of surgery. He has also done over 2000 lap rny
surgeries and has only had one death and his percentages or complications
are so low they are almost none.

hi, I had bypass in jan. 2005, with dr jawad. I also had NO problems from
the first moment after surgery untill this very day. He's not much on
bedside manners, but he is a fantastic doctor. This is the very best thing
I've ever done for myself. hope this helps! julie

I had surgery done by Dr. Jawad a little over a month ago. One thing that
was really great was the dvd with all the surgery information. It answered
a lot of questions my family had and was something that I referred back to
make sure I was prepared. The staff is prompt and helpful. My surgery
went better than I expected. One thing I would do different is learn the
log roll thing to get out of bed prior to surgery. The hospital seemed
understaffed in the evening. Knowing what I know now I would choose Dr.
Jawad again.
