Kari
I had to do the same thing. I went yesterday. She asked me what kind of
exercises I have been doing. Then she told me I should start doing cardio,
resistance and flexibility and gave me some guidelines for what to do at
first and what to build up to. She also computed what my heart rate should
be - min and max and showed me how to check it myself. Very painless, very
helpful, non-judgmental. I was in and out in 30 miinutes and that included
a tour of the exercise facility where they tried to get me to become a
member. I told them I'd think about it, took the info and left. No pain -
no hassle. Hope yours goes as well and this alleviates some of your
concerns. Good luck on your surgery - mine is May 9. I never could get
the hang of using obesityhelp's profile so I have my journey at
[email protected] if you want to see it.

I thnk everyone has to jump through this hoop. Mine was a group
consultation, where she explained that we should exercise so we lose mostly
fat, not muscle, as we are dropping weight. She went over different kinds
of exercise, showed us how to use a big elastic thing, and tried to help us
see which kind of exercise program would work best for each of us. She
gave us our BMI and explained that a little. Very non-threatening, and
over quickly.
