Question:
Is Trazadone absorbed after surgery?
pre surgery I took trazadone, went to sleep easily and stayed asleep. post surgery it only gives me 5 hours of sleep. this is not enough for me. Can anyone shed any light on this for me. — Sharon S. (posted on November 11, 2005)

I am not sure what operation you had but most of them by-pass your
intestines to some degree. Most medication and nutrintes are also absorbed
in the body thru the intestines. There for if your intestines are by
-passed to some degree you are not absorbing the full dose of any
medication. Speak to your doctor that is what they are there for.

Hi, I haven't had the surgery nor am I a doctor but I thought I would share
my $0.02. I was on Trazadone for several years. You might not be
absorbing it or if you have been on it a long time, your body might have
developed a tolerance. Before you switch to a new med, you might want to
see if a higher dose works.
Best.

I take Trazadone now, started 1 1/2 years post-op. It works fine for me, I
take it whole. (50 mg.)
