Question:
Can the Caffeine in Diet Snapple Iced Teas Affect your Pouch
I love drinking Diet Snapple Iced Tea because it helps me get in my water for the day. I ususally drink one or two bottles and the rest I drink water. My question is "Can the caffeine in Diet Snapple Iced Tea flavors affect your pouch?" — Ronika D. (posted on August 11, 2003)

Hi,
I have only heard of carbonation having an effect on the pouch. My surgeon
allows caffiene as long as I'm getting in 64oz of non-caffiene liquids.

Well, the gyp about caffeine is that it deplets more fluids than it
replaces. My surgeon also told us that caffeine increases your appetite.
Have you tried the Snapple flavors that aren't tea? Sometimes Diet Snapple
can be a little hard to find but I just love it and I'm pretty sure the
non-tea varieties are caffeine free. Good luck to you!

I had a hard time getting all my fluids in at first too, and drank a lot of
snapple iced tea, but I really don't like having all that caffeine in my
system. Lately, I drink a lot of the Diet Snapple Cranberry Raspberry.
It's very good. I also make kool-aid with Splenda and Crystal Light.
Sometimes, I just get nauseous when I drink plain water. Good luck.

I LOVE the Diet Snapple Peach Tea! I'd live on it and drink nothing else IF
I could afford it. Anyway, it has never bothered me in the least... not my
pouch or weight loss.

I am not and have never been a water drinker! So I drink 1-2 bottles of
Snapple Diet Peach tea every day and have not had any problems. I used to
drink lots and lots of coffee pre-op but have not had the guts to try it
just yet, so the Snapple has been a lifesaver first thing in the morning to
get me going. But I try to limit caffeine so the rest of the day I drink
either Propel Fitness Water or SF Kool-Aid, which I have become addicted
to! I used to drink Crystal Lite all day but it is expensive and I hate
the strong Nutrasweet taste. SF KoolAid costs less, doesn't even taste
sugar free and it is a great way to get all your water in (try the grape!)

I am still pre-op so I will have to check that out, someone had told me
they were caffine free??

I was concerned about this too. So I called the nutritionist at BTC who
told me that I can drink caffein, but I can not count it towards the 64 oz
needed in a day. She said it acts as a "diuretic" and actually
makes us dehydrated.

My nutritionist called Snapple and found out that their iced teas have VERY
little caffeine. Apparently less than regular decaf coffee.

Try using one of the ice tea makers and use the decaf tea. I throw in a
package of sugar free jello, rasberry/peach/strawberry, etc. and WA-HOO!
Sugar free, caffeine free, flavored tea!
