Question:
IF I USE SUGAR FREE FLAVORED SYRUPS, CAN I HAVE A SNOW CONE OR SHAVED ICE POST-OP?
I HAVE FOUND A MACHINE AT WALMART FOR $19.97 AND I JUST THOUGHT THAT IT WOULD BE A REAL TREAT DURING THE LIQUID DIET PART. MY DOCTOR STATED THAT I WOULD BE ON A LIQUID DIET FOR 4 TO 6 WEEKS POST-OP. I ALREADY HAVE SUGAR-FREE CHERRY SYRUP THAT I USE IN MY DIET-RITES (I LOVE CHERRY COKES). I KNOW THAT THIS SOUNDS CHILDISH, BUT I'M TRYING TO BE REALISTIC. THANKS, TERESA — TERESA G. I can't see why not, unless it has a huge amount of calories. I mean my doc
told me I could have sugar-free popsicles even sugar free fudgesicles, so I
can't see why not. I remember last year before I had surgery the shaved ice
and sugar free syrups were all the rage here. I plan on getting some
sugar-free syrups at the hawaiin ice website. Good luck and enjoy!!

Yes! It is an excellent way to get in your water at first. Have a look at
hawaiianshavedice.com, they have a bunch of sugar free flavors. No
calories, no carbs. My whole family loves them.

YES!!! I did the same thing for myself after my surgery. I had popsicles in
the hospital. I love snowcomes. It sure helped get my water in. I am almost
4 months out and I still do the snowcones. I got my snowcone machine and
sugarfree syrups at Hawaiianshavedice.com. Good luck.

A spin off on the same idea: I enjoy freezing Crystal Light and shaving
that and using no syrup.

That's probably a good idea. Just this past weekend I bought a snow cone
machine. I'm still preop, but people at support group that are post op
said they had trouble getting their water in immediately post op, but could
do shaved ice. I had the same idea with the snow cones. Even now I don't
like the sweetness too much, but having something cold like that when it is
hot is great! The one I bought was the Rival one ($17.99 at target). I
liked it because you don't need to use a special mold - it works with
regular ice cubes. The ice comes out pretty fluffy.
