You shouldn't need to bring any medicine. The hospital should have all that in your records. All I brought was a hairbrush, toothbrush and paste, and a small pillow to hold over tummy when coughing and for the ride home. I brought a book, but I slept a lot and didn't really watch TV that much. You'll be up walking, too. Hope this helps.

i brought a comfortable nightgown, slippers, a book, loose clothes to wear home....but honestly, i was so tired and out of it, that I pretty much slept the entire time i was in the hospital when I wasn't up walking. So, i wouldn't bring to much with you. The hospital should have all the medication that you need

A great big smile, a whole lot of hope and faith, and strong resolve to let this be the start of all new habits and a whole new life!

I brought a ROBE so that when I got up to walk SIX times or more a day, no one had to see my backside, and I didn't have to worry about holding that darn hospital gown closed. Lucky for me, the surgeon put a "picc line" in my neck, so I didn't have to worry about trying to get my sleeves over an IV. But really, lip balm, your cell phone, a book or magazine, and your toothbrush and toothpaste and shower and shampoo items are all you need. They give you everything else. Oh, and lotion. I needed my lotion because my skin felt very dry.

If music comforts you, bring an MP3 player or a portable CD player with your favorite CD's. I enjoyed listening to my praise and worship music while I was in the hospital. Just bring things to make yourself comfortable. I even brought my own pillow, because I have a hard time falling asleep on any other pillow. Congratulations on your upcoming surgery and God Bless.

I took my CPAP machine, plenty of pillows, comfy clothes, pads (if you have a monthly visitor during your surgery), camera, lip balm, hairbrush, slippers/flip flops, and my laptop. I also needed a fan, but the hospital provided that. Good luck in your new journey...It's totally worth it!

CHAPSTICK!...Don't leave home with out it...lol.If you are a reader get you a good book.and some crosswords and search-a-word book. The night in the hospital is so long.you will think you ahve slept an hour and then you look at clock and it has only been 5 minutes.this is no exaggeration.also get you a soft bigger size gown that is very comfy.i felt more comfortable with my own gown.best wishes.keep us updated.if you ahve a laptop you can drop us a line while you are waiting out that long night....in my prayers.

i had surgery 10/19. CHAPSTICK, CHAPSTICK, CHAPSTICK!! i don't remember much of the 1st day, but they do have you up and walking at least x2. I also brought a bigger softer pillow and a fuzzy blanket that smelt like home and not the hospital. What kept me busy on the second day was my laptop; check your hospital for policies. Good Luck!
