It's perfectly normal to gain a little after going from liquids to solids. Also, please be aware that you most likely won't start losing consistently until you have adequate restriction.

I'd say to try either increasing your protein for a few days to see if that jump starts it...or you may need to increase your calories. I thought, no way..., when my dietian told me to increase calories, but it worked. Good luck and call your dietian!! Happy New Year! Hugs, kim

Yes it is normal to gain a little weight going from a liquid diet to a semi-solid diet. Keep following the program and you will be fine. Make sure you are ok healthwise, no pain, no other symptoms, and keep your follow up appointments with your docs. Make sure they know what is going on with you. I have the lap-band but I gained weight during "mushies" I don't know if it was all the liquids, or the dairy, or what, but it happened....then it dropped again, just temporary, I promise.

I am 5 weeks post op lapband- Dec 4th- and I haven't gained weight but have stopped losing. I am very compliant with the food and have started ramping up the exercise. I am hungrier than I was initially. I go to the doctor's today so hopefully will get my first fill. I am ready. My question- I don't know how I can eat much less than what I am eating and still get the required protein??? I am using protein shakes from the bariatric choice online and like them- have added chicken breast, cottage cheese, and eggs. I am afraid to eat too much, especially since my weight loss has stopped. (I have lost about 18 pounds since Dec 4th surgery) but nothing in the past 2 weeks. Any suggestions? Another hard part- people keep asking me how much I have lost and it is hard to say, "no more this week". Is that the way it is supposed to be????

I will be 3 months post Realize band on 01/07/2009. I lost 22 pounds in the first 2 months and now I haven't been able to loose anything. I keep fluctuating between 180 and 183 and just can not seem to get below the 180 mark. I follow the diet very closely and exercise 30 minutes in the morning and 30 minutes in the evening. I am very discouraged and have now gone back to the stage 2 diet for a while until I can see some progress again. My surgeon says I don't need a fill, I just need to stop eating so much, which I am not. I have only had one fill and not scheduled for another fill until 02/11/2009. I am not happy with my surgeon and am trying to get transferred to someone else after my 90 days is up with my current surgeon.
