When I was 19 I was on Medi-Cal for a year, I needed medical procedures
because of a heart problem and they wouldn't cover it. I think you may have
lots of trouble getting this procedure covered. Are you able to purchase
private insurance?
In any event - good luck and let us know!

If you go into "Insurance" and then click on California you can
look up Medi-cal and it will show who had the surgery and Medi-cal covered
it, and where they had it. I hope this helps.

I live in Sacramento too and had Blue Cross HMO (California Care) and was
approved within a few weeks after seeing Dr. Waldrep. However, I did need
to have my PCP refer me to the surgeon. I hope this helps.

Hi Sarah, I live in Vacaville and had my surgery at UC Davis Mec Center on
11/08/05. Dr. Ali is the head of the bariatric program there and his staff
is EXCELLENT!!!! Not sure what insurances is accepted, but they just
received the golden award of excellence in bari surgery and are now
recognized as one of the best centers for surgery. If you are interested
and can't find their phone number, just email me back and I will get you
the contact info you need! Good luck

Dr. Coirin and Dr. Coates ( I prefer Dr. Coirin) accept Medi Cal and Blue
Cross. They ar e wonderful!! They both are in Modesto. The only thing w/
Medi Cal is that you have to pay for your Psych Eval ( about $250) Look up
