Question:
I'M PART OF THE FAMILY -- SOMEBODY TELL ME, HOW DOES ONE...
I know how to get color for, text and for the background on my profile page. But, explain how does one get all that other jazzy stuff, like: a pictured back ground(ex: water waves, flowers etc.); change the text style and make the text bigger; cartoons and all other cute stuff(Is there a fee for this? -- cause I'm POOR!). I've even seen the things, I mentioned on the message board -- how do you get that. Please answer in detail. Oh! can I do them all, myself, or I have to get someone to do it for me. I would like to be tought how. Baltimore, MD — JUNE P. (posted on November 24, 2002)

Hi June! The stuff you want to learn how to do isn't really hard to learn
at all. I suggest you go look at this
link:<P>http://www.e-pixs.com/quick.html<P> It will explain how
you do most of the stuff you want to learn how to do for your profile (like
change font sizes and colors, and put in your own background), plus it's
free, plus it has links to other cool pages (including a free
"practice" board!).<P>Also, once you figure out what
cartoons & pictures you want to upload to your profile page, you need a
free service that will let you store the images. One nice free service for
that is www.ranchoweb.com.

I taught myself how to do html from the site http://www.lissaexplains.com.
It is a site geared towards kids, but it's still an excellent resource.
Much of the stuff I've done on my geocities page I learned from there (not
all of it - some I've just picked up along the way. I've taught myself to
read code and if I see something on a page that I like, I go to View -
Source and I nab it lol) Good luck to you!

I read your question with a lot of interest...
please be kind to your viewers and use the "bells and whistles"
sparingly. some people have profiles that are impossible to read because
there is so much on them ;P
good luck!

I also have not wanted to hurt anyone's feelings. But there are some
profiles that I can't read because these old eyes can't see the letters for
the background and then some are so difficult to load because of the
limited memory on my computer. I never said anything because I really am
not sure it is my place. Plus I simply don't read the difficult ones, and
that's ok too.

OHMYGOD, I'm so glad someone finally said something! I mean, I love the
way some of these profile pages look too, but I can barely read a lot of
them -- and to be frank, they take so long to upload and can be so
difficult to read, that I often just skip them. A little personality is
great...but please, be sparing! :)

Right you are, I have no need for flowers, fairies or cartoon characters!
No to mention the MUSAK- which takes forever to load (and I don't even have
sound at work). As for our own message board- I would be rather be able to
read the "day's posts"; ie retained by date, rather than to
continuously click the "see next 25 postings"! Since it takes
forever to backtrack now, due to the large volume of space taken up with
huge fonts, a large icons. JMHO

THANKS FOR ALL YOUR RESPONSES!! I am so glad everyone was honest. I thought
I was the only one who skipped the, "TOO JAZZY FOR ME ONE'S," but
in the same token, "THOUGT THEY WERE CUTE AND NEAT". I Just
didn't really realize it until now, that I wouldn't/won't read them. I'll
keep the nice colors I have, cause you all broke my spirit! -- But, it was
for the better. My personality is more than enough.
