Question:
I AM HELPING A FRIEND FIND A DOCTOR IN THE DALLAS AREA AND HAVE A QUESTON.

MY FRIEND HAS MEDICARE/QMB INSURANCE. DOES ANYONE KNOW OF A DOCTOR THAT TAKES THIS INSURANCE? SHE IS OVER 350 AND HAS A HERNIA THAT WEIGHS ABOUT 80 POUNDS. HER DOCTOR WON'T DO A GASTRIC BYPASS UNTIL SHE LOOSES ANOTHER 200 POUNDS. WELL, AT 150, SHE WOULDN'T NEED THIS SURGERY. I HAD THE SURGERY IN DECEMBER AND AM DOWN OVER 108 POUNDS AND WANT TO HELP HER. I went to the find a doc page. Lawrence S. Barzune was the only one listed from Dallas that had Medicare patients. Not to say the others don't take it but his was the only Dr profile that listed that he has taken medicare patients. Try checking with the Bariatric Treatment Center in Wylie. I had my surgery done there and they are WONDERFUL! Dr. Leverton is absolutely THE BEST! As for my insurance, I had Providian Life at the time. BUT, I never had to deal with Providian Life at all, never even had to speak to them on the phone, BTC took care of all of that for me :) and I was approved with the first letter. They have people employed that do nothing but deal with insurance companies, and did a great job in my book :)

I live in Dallas but went to Dr. Kenneth Warnock in Wichita Falls for my surgery. I weighed 346 pounds when I had the surgery, so your friend certainly would qualify for surgery with Dr. Warnock. I don't know whether he takes Medicare, but you can call (800)393-3551 and ask for Dr. Warnock's office and inquire. It was well worth the trip to Wichita Falls to have this fine surgeon. I am 5 1/2 months post-op, have had no complications what so ever and have lost over 100 pounds.

I had surgery with Dr McCarty and Dr Kuhn,they are the best.They work out of Baylor of Dallas.They do both lap/open,I dont know all the insurances they take,but call them and see 214-824-9963,Chris is their office assist/program coord. he is the great also.As far as other in fdw---Dr horrilleno/Dr Barzune-dont accept any ins plans,,,,There is also Dr Provost,and btc in wylie that I have heard of.But hands down the team at Baylor is the best,you can tell I'm not biased right....Good luck! I had my surgery in Tx. I had Dr. Michael Green, you could contact him and see if he takes her insurance. I'm sure that he does, he's really a good dr. Pam
