You know, I'm not exactly sure. I would have to imagine if you were having
a lot of yeast infections and/or pain, it should be considered medically
necessary and not cosmetic in nature. Again, this is just a guess. I
would suggest looking through your insurance plan book under Exclusions and
see. Also, give them a call and see what they say. Most plastic surgeons
should be able to give you a better idea as they deal with insurance
companies every day.
Good luck to you,

Hi I just had plastic surgery on my arms and all around my waist. My next
will be legs and boob lift. My insurance does not cover any of it. I
don't have a medical problem because of the excess skin. If you do I was
told that it would have to be documented for awhile by your PC. Best of
Luck

My understanding is that insurance companies will cover that if it is
medically necessary. If your getting infections

You will want to follow up with your surgeon, and your regular MD and have
a long list of complaints to provide when you go for authorization with
your insurance carrier. Things like a recurrent fungal rash, joint pains
(esp back, knees and neck), are good things to complain about. I'm not
stating that you should ever go to the extreme and make these things happen
to yourslef, I'm just stating that if they do happen to you, they will be
looked at as medically necessary reasons for you to undergo palstic surgery
that will be covered by your insurance carrier. Your physicians will have
to work together to provide the evidence to the insurance carrier to let
them know you are not attempting to defraud them. Good luck, and let us
know how that goes for you. I could refer you to many great MD's here in
Virginia, but I'm at a loss for NY. I do recommend that you go to someone
that your surgeon recommends to you, however. You will want to work with
someone who has experience worrking with people who have lost lots of
weight, not the vain at heart... ha! Can you tell that I work in this
area? ha! Look forward to hearing from you! Maria

I have BC/BS of Utica and in my acceptance letter it state they don't
USUALLY pay for excess skin removal. I'm sure there are ways around it,
especially if your dr. documents rashes or infections. How far upstate are
you talking? Dr. Hill in Saranac Lake is great and I heard Dr. Crawford in
Lowville does plastic surgery.
