I know of a surgery calle the Fobi Pouch which is kinda like a combo of the
RNY and a Vertical Band. Dr. Fobi works out of CA. Sorry, don't know much
about TX.

Also this would be the old VBG (Vertical Banded Gastroplasty) or what you'd
know as "stapling". The only time I've seen these done by
REPUTABLE doctors since the 90's is when a patient is opened for other WLS,
something is wrong and it cannot be performed. Then the VBG was put in
place, as long as it lasted. Today, if that was the situation, I suspect
they would place the adjustableb and vs closing a person up undone. You
ask, why would they do that? The person may have had so many previous
surgeries of non-WLS types or mesh installed improperly that the intestines
are stuck together or to the mesh and it would be life threatneing to try
to move them. So, better to wake up with something vs nothing.
Please note I said that only reputable surgeons would do these today, as
they passed out of favor in the 90's, as these ppl all had to be revised to
modern surgeries.
