Question:
Any suggesstion on how to make sure insurance will pay for tummy tuck after surgery?
I'm assumming you need to document from primary Dr. regarding the need for surgery. I haven't had the surgery hopefully July or August but I'm just wondering how about life after surgery. I have BC/BC of MN — Julie H. (posted on June 12, 2007)

Make sure you run to your PCP any time you get a yeast infection in your
"apron" folds. And let your PCP know if the excess skin inhibits
your physical ability to do anything. The more you can prove medical
necessity to get the tummy tuck the better. Good luck!

Just as the previous person said, have your Dr. document every rash or
infection under your apron but also can be done for breasts. They will not
pay for a breast job but may pay for a lift if you have documentation of
sores and infections.

Document. Document. Document! Make sure your PCP documents any issues you
have with your extra skin, rashes, etc. Take pictures. This way....there
cannot be a doubt that you need help.

if your INS. co has a website look on it, usually a search is available,
and see the exact form for a preauthorization the doctor will submitt. On
it we be their rules for coverage. For ex. "The pannus (floppy gut
lol) needs to hang at or below the pubis" I have priority health and
was just approved on the first try. I went from about 350lbs to 150ish so I
am pretty scary naked so I am sure that helped LOL. Goodluck!
