Do they use a catheter?

I dont knowwhat surgery you are asking about.Thyey do not use one for the
lap band.

They use one on me for the gastric bypass -- probably because I HAD a
history of over-active bladder -- the surgery appears to have taken care of
that.

I had an RNY and I did get a Foley catheter, but after they put me to
sleep.

yes, i got a cathedar too, but they put it in after i was asleep. I had it
liproscopically done on 3/9/07

Usually ANY surgery that uses a general anthestic requires a catheter.
Knocked out everything relaxes and they dont want a messy OR table:( Do
talk to your surgeon beforehand. Its usually put in once your under, and
removed once they confirm your peeing and up and mobile.

They used a catheter during my lap ryn surgery. I was asleep when they did
it. They kept in to the next day. I never felt it.
